Subject: P2MImport

I am trying to import Poser characters into 3DS MAx 2009.  I have used the Poser Fusion feature that came with Poser Pro 2010, but don't like the fact that the cameras are not imported.

I purchased P2Mimport because it did this.  First the installer would not allow me to install in Poser Pro 2010 folder because it was looking for poser.exe.  I made a copy of poserpro.exe to poser exe so that the installer weould continue.

In the newer versions of Poser, the Python Menu Bottons are a thing of the past, so I ran the p2mimport script manually using the run Python menu item.  It starts the chell and post the message "Bad Magic number in p2mimport.py.....

Does anyone have this working?  Any ideas on how to use script with Poser Pro?

Bad Magic number means it was compiled for P6. It's not compatible with or PPro or PPro2010 or P8 or P7.

usually that message is about .pyc file, not .py

Means version compiled under not compatible with current Python.

if the .py source is present, you can try deleting .pyc files and they might recompile on running script.

You should still be able to use standard menu buttons in PP2010, they have not gone away

Quote - if the .py source is present, you can try deleting .pyc files and they might recompile on running script.

If there were source present, the PYC would have been rebuilt automatically.

Yes the error was in the pyc file, my mistake.

I found the Python Menu Buttons...  I was looking in the wrong place.  Sometimes is helps just know that they are there...  and then you find them.

I will try renaming the pyc file to Pycorg and run to see if it recompiles.  Thanks to both of you for the info.

You likely don't have the py files. If you did, I think the compiler would have re-built the pyc automatically.

I changed the name of the PYC file (I did not want to delete it.)  When I run the script now, it says that a null value was passed to the python engine.  Closer inspection reveals that there are .py files in the folder, but non of the same name, so I think the source is not present.

I have contacted the author and requested a current build.  This looks to be a great tool.
