Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 25 12:38 pm)

Subject: Hello, my name is Josh, and I'm a Daz3d-o-holic...

JBSettle ( ) posted Wed, 08 August 2001 at 5:22 PM · edited Thu, 14 November 2024 at 10:47 AM

It started inocently enough, just wanted to get a new character for Poser (the fat man model) and that was it. Then Victoria 2 came out and I thought hey wouldn't 10,000 facial morphs come in useful in a comic book, then it was Micheal, clothing, textures, hair, ... you get the idea. Now I've become a full blown Daz3d-o-holic. (He says this as he is currently downloading the new Victoria texture maps that came out this week). I swear sometimes I think I should just give them a direct withdrawal from my bank account. The sad thing is that for the most part the stuff I buy from there is worth every penny (a few exceptions, but for the most part the products are solid). Its just too darn easy to place an order and get the files from them (takes all of five minutes). Any other Daz3d-O-Holics in this group? Any 10 step programs out there? Thanks JBSettle

There is no help - sorry! But welcome to the club! :-)

I am just as bad. Got Victoria 2 - could not let her be all alone, so I got her Michael. Now they have kids. See what happens when your leave you files on the same "hard" drive? If this keeps up, I'll be broke, and out of drive space! I think the ten steps are part of a tutorial... Peggy

lol, same here. I think I must own just about everything they have, and I still check every day. I don't shop this much for me, but Vickie and Michael have just about everything, and now the kids! Marque

Good glad to know I'm not the only one with a Daz3d problem lol. Well its good to know there not going out of business any time soon. If that happened I would go into serious withdrawals. I shudder at the thought but they should also open up a Bryce store. Now if we can just get the Bryce and Poser programmers on the same page life would be grand. I wonder what the next must have item from Daz3d will be. I'm already trying to talk myself into the Micheal changing armor and textures (even though I have no practical use for it right now :( ) Later JBSettle

Easy solution: Just get a divorce and let the DA mess up the accounting. Now, even though you pay diligantly and timley, the DA will now garnish 60%+ of you totall income (about 20% more then the child support really is..?) Now this will rapidly lead to backrupcy as you can no longer pay your bills = problem solved! Now you can just sit there and drewel all over you keyboard and occationaly scrape up some doe to send in a snail mail check. (P.S. this works best in L.A. as that's where the most incompitent but have their "own" courthouse now)

I am Curious, do you like DAZZ better than the Renderosity Marketplace? If so why? I have been thinking of selling some of my stuff through them they expressed intenerest in carrying my stuff when I emailed them a few months ago, but my sales have been sufficient here at renderosity. I had thought that, most people who buy Poser stuff at Daz3D would now of Renderosity and as such 1 was as good as the other or maybe better, as if you have more than one broker your % share goes down. Do you think selling through Daz3D would open the door to a signifigantly larg customer base that I would not have here at Renderosity. Thanks Deimos.

I'm an equal opertunity spender. I look through the free stuff, then the market place on Renderosity, then DAZ. If I have any money or disk space left, then I go on to a few other sites. Peggy

I don't want to sound rude here, but DAZ guarantees a certain (and rather high) quality, that the Marketplace doesn't guarantee. I am also one of those members who dislike the marketplace for its prices. DAZ sells a whole new, poser-setup mesh (in this case Victoria)at 59 Dollars. A simple morph job at the marketplace is supposed to sell at 20 Dollars while just giving Victoria another boring new model-face... With DAZ I simply know that the final product will be worth its price. Joerg
