looks like a closeup of an Anemone to me... I must be red-green color blind LOL

 

just kidding. I used to watch the sun and count sunspots as a teenage astronomy fan. Thanks for sharing ;-)

Nice, one of these 300 km wide plasma tubes would vapourise my country in an instant.

Mmmh, still the best picture this year for me when it comes to Astronomy/Space is this one. It was made on october the 8th of this year.
