Subject: Poser Pro Pack - What is it?

LeBurns ( ) posted Fri, 10 August 2001 at 10:55 AM ยท edited Sun, 02 February 2025 at 7:30 AM

I've seen the adds and been to the webpage. But is it really needed for the pics like the one's we do here? I guess I'm looking for someone to either talk me into buying it or not and just wait for Poser 5. I've read that several people are using it and some of the downloads I get now won't work because they're for PPP and not P4. :( Do I NEED to get it? What are the advantages that make it worth the cost. Also won't P5 have all of P4 and PPP in it anyway, or will there be a PPP for P5 also?

Poser 5 will have it's own edition of the ProPack. The main reason to get the PPP is if you have 3DS MAX or Lightwave 6.5; it includes plugins to bring Poser figures and keyframe information into these applications for animation. The other cool thing about the PPP is Python scripting language support.

Jeff - I've been interested in the Python Scripting thats in the Pro Pack. What can you do with it? I'm not familiar with it at all. Clint

We have a forum here that can help you with that better than I could, but I do know almost any Poser fuction can be automated using the script. This would be good for repetitive tasks, batch processing etc.. You can get a better idea from the docs on the Curious Labs site.

If you can do Python coding then the Pro Pack is worth the price by itself.

I only have Bryce 4 and PSP7, and I don't do many animations. It doens't look like it would be worth the money to me. Thanks for the imput. :)
