Subject: How Did they Do Snow & Frost Effect?

This is a piece of a Poser Background I Have. I am working on one of my own. And am Trying to figure out a Way I can do the Snow Effect like is on the Flowers. And the Frost effect on the Railing. Don't think it was a Brush But I guess it could be. Doing it by hand would take forever. Any Ideas ?

**Instead of painting try this. Select what you want frosted, or the whole image as this works on plants, trees ect. Start Image;**

2) **Now create a "Channel Mixer" adjustment layer, to do this click on the adjustment layers icon at the bottom of your layers pallete, and select "Channel Mixer".**

**3) Now set the blending mode of this layer to "Lighten".**

**Now change the settings to like image:**

**Now, your image may not look like mine at this setting depending on the lightings in your image. So adjust your "Blue" and "Constant" sliders around until you get some good results.**

Thanks for that tutorial. I'ts really nice for Trees or shrubs But I have a Castle And fencing And am Really Trying to find a way to do the Chunks of Frost and Dripping icicles Effect like is on the Sample I posted.

Awesome tutorial Schurby!  Going to have to try this!  :) 

Thememistress, I'm pretty sure that the icicles on the railing were done with a brush, possibly the Winter brushes by Ron Deviney (over at Daz) and I kinda suspect the same was used for the snow and dripping ice on the flowers.

I forgot that I that I have a Ron's Winter Brushes and they do work great. Been awhile since I used them.

It looks to me like they carefully used an Alien Skin plug in. I can't remember which one has snow, but the two main plugins are Textures and Nature. I'd be lost without them.

The snow was not done with a brush.

The ice was.

Much of the snow in my backgrounds (which this is one of) is done by hand and yes it takes FOREVER.  See also my Beautiful Orient Winter Collection backgrounds - every bit of snow on every single branch is hand painted with a pretty basic brush.

 

The tutorials and other methods are great, but I still feel that doing it all by hand is the way to go...

Trust me, I wish I did have a secret trick for snow that worked perfect every time but it just doesn't.
