Subject: Hello ... and some news from myself

Schlabber ( ) posted Fri, 10 December 2010 at 5:41 PM · edited Tue, 24 December 2024 at 11:20 PM

Hello alltogether ...

to some old friends (don't know how much are left ;o) ) and to all the people who came to the "Poser-World" the last - ahem - 3-4 years.

Some of you might remember me - some not. However ... to make a longer story short:

I may have some time the next year to do a bit for Poser (well - normally this results in a "few" poses as some of you may remember) - and IF I got the time I may get, this certainly will bring me in the position to do a lot.

So - the simple question by now ... is there still a need for poses ?

If so - place your requests here or just send me a mail or IM here. Before I forget it - this does not mean I have the time right NOW. But I better start requesting early ;o).

The last 3-4 years I didn't have the time to follow all the poser news too much. I had so much projects for poses in the line and already done a lot for V3/V4 that was never released (well - I really had enough to do in my "normal" life and we all know this comes first).

And for the old friends: There is no reason to worry. I know I've made myself more then rare. This is mostly due to the fact I married my love and we both got a lovely daughter. Soon we will get a newborn again ... and I'm quiete happy with my life.

So much for now ... let me see if someone replies :-)

markschum ( ) posted Fri, 10 December 2010 at 6:22 PM

yay! welcome back. Poses are always welcome , I mainly look for a starter pose that I can modify. Partial poses would be great. Poses with raised arms I find hard to get looking right.

Adam Thwaites on his website offers sets of poses, no point in duplicating. He has some erotic and couples sets.

Good to have you back.  Your poses are always a definite.  I still use your Mike and Vicki poses.  I still use your weapon and hurt poses a great deal.

LaurieA ( ) posted Fri, 10 December 2010 at 6:38 PM

Oh my goodness Schlabber...you have to ask if we still need poses? LOL. That would be a definite yes ;o).

And nice to see you are well, btw :o).

Hi Schlabber. Good to hear from you again. Congratulations on all the wonderful family news!

I agree that some good partial mix and match poses would be very nice. There never seem to be enough 'everyday' poses - perhaps some theme packs, e.g. a day in the park, shopping, dining, classroom, at the doctor etc. I know it's impossible to get things exact for poses interacting with props, but maybe general enough that they can be adapted.

Welcome back!

Like markschum, I generally use "starter" poses, then alter them to my needs. Anything you could come up with along those lines would be wonderful. :-)

Glad to see you again!!!!! I'd request poses for M4. There just aren't enough poses for the males in the Poser universe.

Welcome back, and I've used your stuff a time or two. I think Laytexluv is right about needing poses for M4, theres a lot out there for V4. But we could use more couples poses, too. Not necessarily x-rated stuff, but poses that fits them together in everyday situations would definitely be a help. Good luck!

Your "old" pose collections are well-remembered by me !

Please keep making them.  There will always be new types of poses which we need for a variety of uses, in Poser.

I had to smile at the "joined" dates on this thread: 2002, 2001, 2003, etc. A lot of us "old folks" are really glad to see you back.

"New folks": you have a treat coming.

drifterlee ( ) posted Sat, 11 December 2010 at 9:54 AM

Congrats on your children and marriage!!!!! I would love to see some everyday poses for M4 and V4 - sitting down at a table, walking, sleeping - something non pinup or action. Just some poses for everyday life seem to be lacking in the marketplace.

parkdalegardener ( ) posted Sat, 11 December 2010 at 10:14 AM

Welcome back and congratulations on the family. I have some of your poses from back when I first experimented with MC P4 years ago. I was here under an other name back then.  Seems like a lifetime ago.  I would welcome any of your well crafted poses. After all... The software is called Poser

Schlabber ( ) posted Sat, 11 December 2010 at 4:32 PM

Time to comment a bit :o)

Whoa - I didn't expect so much answers. And - yes - as being mentioned - for me it also feels like a lifetime since I had to go to concentrate on something different.

What I did the last 3 years ... some people seem to do this in around 10 years or more. But this isn't the point. The point is:

  1. I won't now concentrate totally on Poser - everyone who has a family will understand this

  2. Nevertheless - if I got that much time I might will get (it is possible that I'm of my job for more than 6 months) - I will have some time to do ... poses. And you can believe me, this will end in an amount (and quality) I was not able to do so far. Yes, this will be a real treat ;o)

  3. It seems from having an overview about the requests you and me where thinking the same ... not so much pin-up anymore (does not mean I won't do them then ... hey, have a look at 2. only a few hours a day will result in ... maybe 100 poses ?)

  4. But you know ... I can't promise being back right now. First there has to go everything well with the 2nd child. And then I also have to take the courage to take my months off. This also depends on my company. Right at the moment it seems they just can't over me the job I really want to do right now. If this does not change I will take my "holidays" (the "" because of I don't know by now what it means to have 2 young childs at home - for sure I will and have to help my wife too)

  5. Thank you all for the good wishes - I really hope for all of you you will find the same happiness then I found (or already have it ;o) )

markschum ( ) posted Sat, 11 December 2010 at 5:04 PM

It seems everybody doing poses starts with erotic, or model, or action  so doing a scene with people just sitting in a bar means doing your own poses. I like doing them myself but others seem to find it hard. The V4 and M4 figures seem to be a real pain to get the arms right, I always wind up with creases :( and they dont take poses for earlier figures either because of the body part names.

Congratulation on the kids, and they will keep you awake, and for a while seem like little screaming poo factories.

SamTherapy ( ) posted Sat, 11 December 2010 at 5:05 PM

You know, you have given so much over the years that I am certain nobody minds if you take your own time to make anything more for us.   As you rightly say, family comes first.

As for me, yes, extremely happy.  :)

Do we need poses?  DO WE NEED POSES!!!!!

Welcome back, Schlabber, you have been missed!

Everyday poses would be great... teachers leaning on their desks, writing poses and such.  Not everybody paints glamour shots, LOL!!!!!  Maybe some good ones for the new Miki3?  Or kids' poses... boys pulling hairs?  If anybody can pull it off, it's you!

Hi,Oh Schlabber, I've missed you.  Congrats on 1.5 children.  That is wonderful, and probably you won't get back to much posing until they are at school.  Gosh that was quick work!

I still use your poses almost every day. I love your V3 expressions all the time (these are poses not faces) and I use them on V4 without too much trouble and often on M3 and M4 as well.

New poses.  WEll you haven't done much int eh way of couples M4 V4 type poses doing various activities.  I like all your poses with V4 and M4 with some other items that can be purchased, eg I just recently modified these poses from V3 to V4.

The ones with the book not the paper.

Reading poser newspapers for V4 and M4 would also be good.

hi Schlabber,

welcome back, and congratulations with the whole family. Now, not having more time for Poser is your own fault, isn't it :thumbupboth: ?

Personally, I'm not in the need for more poses as such, they are so much good enough freebies an cheap good enough packs around nowadays, just for that. But from someone like you who's really into poses I would appreciate

 - to learn how to make poses and animation moves that look real. Like for carrying weight, leaning to a wall, whatever. As so many poses seem to be cartoon like, and forget that we live in a gravity world, although Poser is hardly supporting weight itself.

 - to learn, and get resources for, the muscle morphs that come with that. the 'muscle tone' it what I miss in most posing images, Vicky can do the most tough things but no muscle tension shows up. Also keeping balance in still situations can require severe muscle puling and stretching, bit the models hardly show any.

 - to have poses and moves (and muscle tones) for non-perfect characters. Forget about those Vickys and Michaels. Finally we're seeing proper characters for elder figures, but we don't have the poses and moves. Thin or obese people have different bone-bending limits, and will keep balance in different ways. Same for the muscled and hulky warriors around, and for the elves and dwarfs. And how about the pregnant, the crippled, the lame and the orc? Kids are not just scaled down adults. Pose - to me - means character, personality. Poser can give us a walk cycle, but not a limping one. And then I'm talking humanoids only, not even animals.

Hence, I'm very interested, but not in more of the same. I prefer low volume high quality. I prefer to learn, instead of to download. But that's just me.

I know you can do it.

- - - - -

Usually I'm wrong. But to be effective and efficient, I don't need to be correct or accurate.

Recently i have still take a look on  your big documentation about poses (i have printed it when i have downloaded it in the past )

estherau ( ) posted Sun, 12 December 2010 at 6:07 PM

Schlabber's posing tips are great, and the one tip I got the most out of was to start posing the arm from proximal to distal, ie start at the collar then shoulder and do hand last.

YOu know your climbing wall Schlabber with V3 climbing?  Well I have spent literally days trying to get V4 to climb the same wall, with some success.  But that would sure be a good one for you to redo.  And M4 as well. I quite like M4.

Welcome back to a fellow "old timer", and I'm glad to hear you were MIA for good reasons and not unwanted ones.  I have just about nevery pose you ever made and will no doubt appreciate anything that you create going forward.  What I always seen to need the most are "vehicle" poses, such as driving cars (and getting in and out of them), flying space ships, sitting at operating counsels, etc.).

Like all the other posters, I am glad to see you back, Schlabber.  I have enjoyed your free and your commercial poses over the years, especially some of the old swordfighting ones.  And I think there is still a market for good pose sets for V4 and M4, because poses made for earlier figures often do not work completely correctly with them, especially for paired figures like in swordfighting.  I for one would be very interested in updated versions of some of your older poses to make them work well with V4 and M4.  While I can fix any problems with older poses myself if necessary, I am happy to pay a reasonable price for a product that does all this work for me and insures that paired figures work well together and that all the details (hands, feet, etc.) are correct.

I join with the other posters in congratulating you on your child and the second one on the way.
