Poser Python Scripting F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Sep 18 2:50 am)

We now have a ProPack Section in the Poser FreeStuff.
Check out the new Poser Python Wish List thread. If you have an idea for a script, jot it down and maybe someone can write it. If you're looking to write a script, check out this thread for useful suggestions.

Also, check out the official Python site for interpreters, sample code, applications, cool links and debuggers. This is THE central site for Python.

You can now attach text files to your posts to pass around scripts. Just attach the script as a txt file like you would a jpg or gif. Since the forum will use a random name for the file in the link, you should give instructions on what the file name should be and where to install it. Its a good idea to usually put that info right in the script file as well.

Subject: idea for a new drop to floor python script

I noticed the other day that posers drop to floor command is pretty basic, and was wondering if anyone else ever wondered why there isn't an option to make the lowest foot to hit the floor flatten as if standing on it  (whilst keeping the figures pose), and altering the higher foot until the heel is as close to the floor without changing the pose or dropping the lower foot below the ground plane.... there could even be a bias so the the feet would be at an angle to the floor (to allow for high heels etc), this would save so much time as im sure everyone spends time altering feet possitions when posing figures, it would be much easier to pose the figure a distance above the floor then drop the figure and the feet would bend automatically...

could this be made into a python script and would anyone be interested in creating it? or is this one for the next generation of poser?

Getting old and still making "art" without soiling myself, now that's success.

Ok, so what if the figure is kneeling , or playing piggyback, etc .

A script as you describe should be doable. It might mean using IK to move the foot.

by the way, i search for a way to apply DROP TO FLOOR FEATURE to the WHOLE animation, so to each frame. do you know how to do that ?

There is a script in the utilities scripts tha will do a drop to floor for every keyframe in an animation.

PythonposerScriptsScriptsMenuUtility

there are two, one for props  dropacttofloor...  and one for figures.
