the world is NOT ending in 2012. all that is happening is a calendar that a group of ppl thought they'd be around to reset ends. that's it.

think of it this way:

Seriously, if the world was going to end in 2012, I'm sure we all have better things to then render more worthless and meaningless images. If we only have had year to live and really were convinced of that as a fact, most things we do occupy our lives with at the moment would seem very empty and meaningless.

The pure and simple fact is that the earth has been under threat of being hit by a meteor, asteroid, comet or otherwise since its inception. 2012 will be no different than any other time in the earth's history. Sheesh...

We boys & girls are here for a very short time probably someone that has posted on Renderosity Forums  this last year will be dead or dying by 2012.

lol... last year we delivered some cabinets to some guy just before Christmas, and he was telling us that the world's gonna end in 2011.  My boss changed the subject to shrug him off 'cause we didn't believe it, and we laughed about it on the way bac to the shop.  I said, "so if the world's gonna end in 2011, why in the world did he just buy a bunch of cabinets from us when he thinks he's got such a short time?" LOL.  We laughed the whole day.

This thread's another reason to laugh and reminds me of that guy lol, what's with these lunes telling us stuff like this?  shakes head

Was just talking to a friend about snow and snow isn't even the scariest thing. Where I live, ice storms are much scarier ;o). Much more beautiful too until you get clobbered by a sheet sliding off the roof...lol.

I dunno what wiped out the mayan dynastic kultur.  the commons are still there, but perhaps disease and/or climate change made them unable to tolerate a ruling elite.  the same thing happened to the aztecs, invaders whose elite were wiped out by the native mexicans after only a century of misrule.

p.s. it's approx. 60 F here.  doesn't snow much here, excepting the sierra.  if we can't discuss religion nor politics, that leaves the weather as the only topic that keeps the trolls at bay.

Mayans, Yucatan Peninsula, just south of the Gulf of Mexico, large meteor once struck part of it, lots of cool underwater caves... latest theory is that a drought coupled with a dense population did them in as a cohesive culture. Good astronomers, thoughtful architects, entertainment on par with the Romans.

So, should I cash in my retirement accounts and have a fun couple of years, or what?

Don't know about global warming but winters here in Iceland have become pretty lame over the years.  We're lucky to get a few days of snow, at least here at the southern shores.

As for the OP, I like the question as a hypothetical.  I don't think the world ends in 2012 but what would you like to accomplish in 3D, for argument's sake?

I would like a new HP Workstation with at least 24Gb RAM to render out the same old crap faster!

Dual monitors.  That's my goal.  But I didn't plan ahead for Y2K and I'm not doing it for 2012.  That room in the basement would serve me much better as a wine cellar.  :)
