MouthOpen is finished. This took longer than I had anticipated, since the inner mouth stuff got a bit messy, and it ended up needing the full JCM treatment, going through DAZ MLP and all that. (Sadly, I couldn't use colorcurvature's tool because Poser export created a mesh that I Wings3D refused to split along the center line).

Now I'll just transfer the morph into my master files and go on to the smile, a.k.a. MouthWide.

Question: Are the JCMs supposed to work properly in DS? Because I get some weird pinching in spots in certain poses--especially in the pits when the arms are down. Is it just me or does DS not handle the JCMs well?

I don't use DS, so I really can't say. I made the morphs using DS, though, so I'd assume they would work.

Posing the arms so that there's nothing weird happening in the pits is still tricky, even with all the JCMs Antonia has. So unless the same poses work fine in Poser, this does not need to be DS-related. That said, I've seen people claim that JCMs can behave differently in DS vs Poser.

I'll go take a look back through the thread again (whew!) and take a look at your renders of the standard poses (because it's happening even in them) to see if I can see a difference.

Hello-hello and a late ho-ho-ho, I took the freedom to enjoy some work-free days during the holidays (instead of unpacking some of the boxes in the attic waves at BlueEcho, I am slow as well) and now Leo pointed me to this thread and I see great things happening in the near future. Januray 11th 2011? Yep, that's a suitable date and Antonia is worth it. But odf, if you are not able to meet this deadline - don't care (and on the other hand please... do not choose November 20th 2011 - 20.11.2011 as the new release date 😉)..

Here are the humble beginnings of a smile (mouth only). As you can well imagine, I'll need to throw in a few more hours before this looks half-way presentable. But my reference book says that the smile is the hardest expression shape to get right and takes an experienced modeller at least five to six hours. So I guess I don't need to be too embarrassed so far. 😉

SaintFox: As I said before, what I don't get done in the next couple of weeks will probably not get done for a long, long time. So Antonia 1.0 will include whatever I have by then, and that's that. In a way, the MouthOpen morph was the only really crucial thing that had been missing, because of how it needs to be hooked up with the jaw movements.

I think this is the right time to send the signal that this project is now in a stable state, which is what a version 1.0 expresses. I won't say finished because one can always add things. But the foundations won't shift.

But hey, sleep is overrated, isn't it?! So the January will be: Working for Antonia add-on's, working for Miki 3 add-on's and instead of sleep watching the handball WM. Here's a better smile, with her mouth slightly open. Once I could do an open smile, I finally realized that her teeth were at a completely wrong angle. D'oh! So I've mad a morph for fixing that, which of course will be merged into the default shape.

Picked up a project I started a while ago for a simple dress. It won't be able to compete with anything you guys here are making, so if ever finished will be a freebie.

I try to do something with dedicated JCM's, simulating the slide/wrinkle process at the thigh 'kick' motion by doing linear approximations for parts of the curve. Should be straightforward in a technical application, but Poser is driving me crazy.

Anyway, a final Antonia to be released soon is a good incentive to make me go agia, so: march on soldier!

Ah, I made the UV's represent real patches of cloth, with seams in the sides and at midfront and aft, etc. but for this image obviously took the wrong texture.

RobynsVeil, any chance of getting a few extra morphs on your Misty Veil Hair and a hair fit for Toni?

I've noticed that in trying to make just the sides, front or back a little shorter or longer, there is some distortion.

I love this hair set but wish there were morphs. :)

BlueEcho: Do you know the hair fitters by Netherworks? I use them for all the "niche figures" like the Mikis and Terai Yuki, for the Kids and so on. I have not so much luck when converting conforming hair but for hr2, propped hair, hats and such things these tools work perfect and the included python scripts make the process of converting and creating the morph fast. Maybe someone has already contact to this vendor and can talk him/her into making such a set for Antonia?

Progress is steady, but slow as usual. Tweak - check - tweak - check - rinse and repeat.

I think I'm finally happy with the smile, though. I've automated making one-sided versions of my expression morphs, as well. But the whole process is still tedious. Too many steps between the tweaking and the testing.

I've just updated the data-file Antonia's Puppet Master support on the Freebie-site for the new version of our girl (most of all because I was able to achieve better results whensetting her up). If someone uses the data with Puppet Master: The feet and toes tend to be posed in an extremely twisted and bended way, this has to be corrected manually or by using limits, so far I was not able to get rid of this effect.

I think I'm making some decent progress. One more mouth shape to go, and then it's eyes and brows. The hardest ones - mouth open, smile, frown, narrow and sneer - are past me, and I've got my work flow set up pretty nicely, which means I should be able to make some more progress on weeknights after work starts again on Tuesday. It doesn't look like I will be completely finished by January 11, but close. I might release a version 0.9.127 or even a release candidate for 1.0 around mid January, take a short break, and then do the final spurt.

I think someone once asked for a "biting the lower lip on one side only" expression. Here it is. 😉 Well, I'm cheating a little bit, since actually getting the lip in between the teeth isn't yet possible.

Anyway, I've done all the major shapes for the mouth and lips. There are still some auxiliary ones that I'm saving for later. The lids and brows are next. But I'll also have to experiment a bit and find out how to best weigh the asymmetric versions of the mouth shapes.

Tried that: Morph and pose V3 to fit Antonia in zero position, with key points (feet, knees, crotch, nipples, shoulders, elbows, wrists and neck matching, then saved that pose and apply it to V3 morphing clothing. Theoretically this should result in a fitting geometry.

Had moderate success. Pose definition somehow seems prone to drift. This may depend on clothing item used. Maybe I try again with a DAZ official item like the MFD.

Or just wait for WW2 support.

With Morphing Clothes, you'd transfer Antonia's body morph(s) into a new copy of the existing clothing. You will then have the clothing with a dial (or dials) to fit the clothing. I've done it successfully with V4 clothing and the Reby Sky figure and see no reason why the same couldn't be done with Antonia.

CHEERS!

Believable3D ( ) posted Tue, 04 January 2011 at 11:56 AM

The difference is that Reby Sky is not actually a figure, but a customization of V4. Antonia is standalone and vertices etc do not correspond.

Believable3d is right. Morphing clothes will transform any morph of a figure to clothes that are native to a figure. In fact you can take V4's first dress and fit it to SP4 or Reby Sky (or even any custom morph you make or purchase) on the fly. But you can not take a clothing item that is not made for Antonia and add Antonia's shape to it with Morphing Clothes. To do this you need Wardrobe Wizard or Cross Dresser. But maybe you can use Morphing Clothes on such a converted pose to add an Antonia custom morph...

With poses I had good results meanwhile (depsite the usual overly bent and twisted feet and toes - but that's normal) with setting up Antonia in Puppet Master. I've uplaoded an updated dat-file for her to the Freebie site that can be used with the universal poses as well.

But as said: I am not a profi in doing this so tweaks will be necessary and Antonia may float in the air and has to be set to the ground.

Another test render from last night. I'm back at work, so progress will be slower, at least until the weekend. This is the "eyelid only" squint (the morph is actually called LwrLidUp). I'll try to do the "cheek" squint tonight, then it's on to the brows.

Regarding Crossdresser, I haven't heard from the person who maintains that program. PhilC has expressed interest in adding support for Antonia some time ago, so I'll shortly let him know that she's ready for it. He needs a stable figure (topology, shape, JCMs and JPs) before he can get to work. But of course I don't know if he's still interested and what his current workload is.

If anyone's keen on getting Crossdresser support, I suggest they go ask for it themselves. Since if I understand correctly, figure support is sold individually for that program, I imagine the more people ask for it, the better the chances it will be added.

bagoas ( ) posted Tue, 04 January 2011 at 5:15 PM

Tried to fit the DAZ MFD for V3 to Antonia tonight. Got to the stage of a basic fit with transformations, standard morphs, and 3 magnets: one to correct the back of the neck and one with a mirror magnet to correct the length of the arms. Remaining trouble points are:

1 - the elbows, where V3 has broken straws and Antonia of course has the nice curvature we all know and like so much.

2 - The width of the breasts. I can not find a morph in the MFD to make the bust less dangling to the sides.

3 - Curve of the back. V3 is a sort of hunchback; shape frozen in the chest

Anyway, nothing a few more magnets/morphs will not cure. Then export geometry, and then of course carry over the rig, etc.

SaintFox ( ) posted Tue, 04 January 2011 at 5:35 PM · edited Tue, 04 January 2011 at 5:38 PM

@bagoas: Chapeau for your effort, especially because you start with the Morphing Fantasy Dress, a piece of clothing that is, even in it's original form, a pain to work with as soon as you try to make your figure sit or lay down.

I am pretty sure that Antonia will get more support especially because people who post to this thread already plan on commercial products. At least as soon as these hit the marketplace more vendors will download Antonia and ponder over her needs 😉

And again: These are VERY nice expressions!! Although you, odf, already think about finishing the mouth morphs I would like to see a kind of pucker-expression. If used alone it often looks kind of silly. But together with other face morphs you are able to create a convincing look of this typical "Oh!" or "Oooops"-face we all know from vintage-pinups. And of course it is important for simulating speech and a kissing-expression.

I'm not always right, but my mistakes are more interesting!
