Subject: Lighting

I seem to have been asked a bit more lately on my lighting.  Or, more precisely, WHAT lights I use.  I'm not sure exactly HOW to answer that.  Reason being is that I make most of my lights, or alter preset ones.  A lot of my limited knowledge has come from people like Bagginsbill, hborre, etc.  I guess the reason for this post, is to see if there is an interest in me doing a tut, or making a light package?  I have never thought my lighting unique, but if anyone is interested I can try and share what little I know.

If there is anything you would like to know about my technique, etc, feel free to email me or whatever.  Just know, that I am just a hobbiest, and really just 'do' things.  I am by NO means, an expert at anything.  Just trying to be helpful where I can if possible.

Sorry if this post is valueless.

Take care everyone!

No, I don't think there isn't in value this post.  There are truly many individuals out there struggling with the very concept of lighting and how to approach this tricky subject.  A small tute of your technique would be of immense value to many.  Do share your workflow, we are all very interested.

let's see one of yer set-ups (screencap).  also, lite settings (e.g. raytrace, shadows, IDL et al.).  the valueless posts are when they start arguing about religion/politics IMVHO.  anything about poser is of some value here.

Some people find lighting a bit like having teeth pulled without the benefit of anasthesia and for them, a tutorial would probably be a godsend.

Ah, painful dentistry.  Those were the days (sigh).

Please, any advice on lighting would be appreciated. That's the one area that keeps me from actually posting any of my stuff.  Every effort I make with the lights just makes it worse.

You have my vote for the lighting tuts.  I seem to lose interest in most of my work because of lighting issues and any guidance would be greatly appreciated.  I have a tendancy to go through all the lights I have to find one best suited to the scene but usually end up with a "oh that'll do light" I have tried altering lights but find myself worse off.  I've tried with the basic three point lighting but never seem to achieve much there.  My biggest problem is rendering indoor scenes (say a small lounge)

You have no idea how valuable it would be.  I have so much work I could revist with a much better approach to lighting
