Thanks to all who voted, and to all who entered and made it such a varied selection of images.Congrats to orbital and drawbridgep...always an inspiration for me!
For the next challenge, why not keep on the alien theme.I propose...
ALIEN WORLDS
Use any version of Bryce to create your vision of an alien landscape,be it a hostile desert planet with swirling dust storms,a frozen world orbiting a giant planet,an alien jungle full of bizarre plants and humid mists,a mechanized tech planet...you get the picture! Imports are allowed, but try to use Bryce for most of your needs.Minimal postwork would also be acceptable. As a side challenge, explore the many areas within Bryce and add an element that you have customized to the scene...for example, changing the colours of a preset terrain material, combining a trunk of one plant with the leaves of another, creating your own custom sky, etc. Add this element that you've tweaked into your description to accompany the image.
How's that sound???
That would work for textures etc.,but you'd have to show an image of, say,a tree or sky tweaking...I'm always a believer in also describing in basic terms how a certain technique was accomplished so that another can follow and duplicate it,and learn from it.Either way is fine with me,I leave it up to the mods to decide if the file entry can be utilized that way!
We did have a challenge quite sometime ago where we had to create textures to be used in the image and post a file containing the textures/mats. Proved very useful as the results were passed on as freebies.

OK....the file upload thing was a mistake on my part in the first place. I should have checked/unchecked the box. This time though I'll mention it in the official page.
