Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 29 7:57 am)
That is how to do it from within Poser. I find it infinitely easier to just use Windows Explorer to create folders and organise my stuff that way. For instance, I'm not sure that you can actually move things from one folder to another... perhaps you can now, in Poser 8. But in WinExplorer, it's a no-brainer.

I cannot find out to do what you suggesting. I do not have the sign in my Poser. See print screen. I have tried, but I just make the folder and it is empty allthough I find the folder on my computer and choose ok.
I also would like remove the folder called Victoria 3, so I can starts all over again, but how do I do that. I know it is 2 questions, but I hope you will still help me:-)).
I do not use Windows Explorer but Firefox, so I do not know how to do, what you suggest and how to get it into Poser this way?
Elin.

Ok, let's open up "Windows Explorer" so we can remove (delete) the folders that you do not want in your Poser library ... OK?
Can you open the Windows Explorer window?

No ... that is for the internet browser ... we do not want this.
We want the one that you open from the windows desktop (NO browswer open)
Scroll down and find "Victoria 3" in the Windows Explorer and delete Victoria 3 folder.
If you accidentally delete the wrong folder, you can restore it from the Recycle Bin.
DO THIS WITH POSER NOT OPEN.
Now, the next time you start Poser, "Victoria 3" should be gone.
Yes?

All Poser versions have limitations on how to extensively manipulate the library. P8 and PP2010 give you better control and ease to arrange your library as you want. However, the ability to rearrange folders and content within the program still falls short. Your best alternative is still using Windows Browser or ShaderWorks' P8 Extended Library which should work just as well but within Poser. That application can be found @ RuntimeDNA.

The full functionality of folder and file manipulation built into the Poser library is coming, but frankly if you don't know how to do it with your standard operating system tools, you won't know how to do it in Poser either. It's going to be largely the same. IMO building these into Poser is kind of a difficult thing to do well, because the various gestures and conventions of each operating system are different, and it is knowledge of these that makes working with files and folders familiar. Multiple-selection, drag and drop, hot keys for cut/copy/paste, these are things that have nothing to do with Poser, and yet they will have to be built into it to match what people expect from the file explorers they already use. (Or don't use, as in this case. Training will be required no matter what.)
I can almost guarantee that there will always be times that you leave the Poser interface to manage the files and folders in some complicated workflow. Simple things will be possible and convenient - I hope.
One thing I worry about - people have expectations of behavior in file management. Suppose you drag an existing folder into a new place that already has a folder of the same name. What happens next is completely different on Windows versus Mac. What should Poser do? Be inconsistent with itself, or with the OS? Or should it be a user-configurable option?

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

Hello,
I have now tried to make a folder in library, but I cannot find out how to place it in another folder.
I want to have e.g V3 in a folder, and all my poses, props, hairs in folders beneath the V3 folder.
I use Poser 8.
Can anyone explain it to me please.
Many greetings
Elin.
