I am making the transition from PC to a Mac OS and am having trouble getting the installation software to "Auto-run" on my macbook pro.  I am using my back-up discs for Adobe CS4, as my originals are packed away in storage for the time being.  The disk appears (in finder) to have all files in tact, except the .exe files and .inf files seem to be non-compatable with the Mac OS.  Any tips on installation?  Thanks, and greatly appreciated!

Photoshop can run on 2 PCs or 2 Macs owned by the same person but not one of each. If you want to switch from PC to Mac you need to contact Adobe. You will have to provide proof of registration and sign a LoD (letter of distruction). You would then be sent a new CD with a new license for the Mac.

exe. files are windows .. AFAIK there is NO MAC software on windows disks..

So you have to just like me try to transfer you license from Win to MAC..

That can be done trough Adobe site.. but it will req. you to buy a upgrade to latest version if you dont have the latres version for win..

like you have CS4 for win the transfer req. you to buy a Upgrade to CS5 for Mac..

 

Im doing the same but the NEED to buy a upgrade ,did got me of garde.. and i had no cash to spent yet..

Use boot-camp and setup your Mac to dual boot to Windows. Alternately, use Windows VM-ware. Works? More than likely. (Although some bugs or oddities may pop up by doing it this way. Might not get full support with such workaround. But that's a trade-off you may decide to make when companies like Adobe make annoying marketing decisions that intentionally gimp usability of software.) Seems like an ugly way of doing it and a kludge? Certainly.

Might also violate the software licence (IANAL, read-through it to make sure), but I think "PC" and "Mac" terms apply specificly to OS environment rather than actual hardware. (So of the two "(Windows) PCs" you're allowed, one of them could be running on your Mac.)

 

Apparently it's been discussed before, so this may be an option.
