Subject: Why am I STILL getting Wishlist notifications?

Andrew_C ( ) posted Sat, 15 January 2011 at 7:12 AM · edited Thu, 07 November 2024 at 11:30 AM

I reluctantly disabled newsletters and notifications becaues I am tired of being spammed with wishlist notifications and i was informefd that this was the only way of disabling them. I am STILL getting the annoying things. Is there no way of stopping them?

I'm pretty sure that the only way to stop receiving notifications of wishlisted items going on sale is to remove them from your wishlist, it has nothing to do with the newsletter as far as I know.

Lucie is right..you will have to remove the items from your wishlist.

Deleting my wishlist is NOT acceptable.

I use my wishlist to store all the interesting stuff I come across while browsing the Store, because there is so much stuff in there I would never find it again - in other words, I use it as a wishlist. I may purchase things off it, I may not, but if something in the store interests me I wishlist it.

I am not interested in knowing every time someting goes on sale. I check in often enough to know when stuff on my wishlist is on sale, and if I have money to spare I might buy something.

Is it so difficult to have an option to disable wishlist notifications?

I'm with you, it would be great to have this option, I too couldn't care less to know when the products I've wishlisted go on sale, I wishlist them because I know I may have a use for them later on and want to be able to find them easily when I'm ready to buy them on sale or not.  I've removed some products from my wishlist just because I kept receiving those darn notifications and got annoyed (vendors were a bit "sale happy" I guess).

Maybe post here asking for this feature to be implemented - Suggestion Box

In the meantime you could alway do what I do. I have a filter set up to sort my mail in my mail client (Thunderbird) all the wishlist mail goes into a specific folder, which I just delete regularly.

Maybe we need a second list called  "I wish this was on sale"  list.

and only get notifications for it...would be more useful...lol

Perhaps a more convenient way to go about it rather than waiting for a miracle to happen would be to take matters into your own hands and do a moc-wishlist by using your browsers bookmarking function. Create a bookmark folder called Renderosity Wishlist (or whatever) place all the links to all the things you have wishlisted in there and then you can actually remove things from your Renderosity Wishlist. I'm just saying. That's one alternative.

The only way change comes about is if you have a massive amount of people griping about it unfortunately and even then there's no guarantee. Although there's probably more people out there who'd rather have that notification of a sale.

That is exactly the solution I would use.

I have a question about this...
I just deleted over 400 products from my wishlist, and almost all of them were multiple's of items by the same vendor(s) that I want to get when they are on sale, or as Andrew C, said piqued my interest.

Since big chunks of those were by the same vendor(s), I instead Fav'd the vendor. Will this assure me a notice of when that/these particular vendors do a sale? I know vendors that are currently in my fav'd vendors  list do seem to generate an e-mail notice of sales.

Anyone tried this? Will this work for myself and Andrew? If not it is still easier then having 25 Toxic colors/or 50 hairs in my wishlist! :)   Now I am down to only 250 WL items!

Last question, when you actually buy an item, but did not remove it from your wishlist, does it auto delete? I know for a fact I have bought several items that were in my wishlist, but I did not remove them manually or add to the cart from the WL pages. But they are not in the WL any longer. I expected to find a few hundred that were already purchased, that I would have to clean out, not the case. Just curious as to how it actually is set up and works in the new programming.

ThanX!

If you add a vendor as a "favorite vendor" you will only get a notice when they release a new product. The sale ebots are product specific so you wouldn't get a notice of a sale just by having someone listed as a fav vendor you would get the sale notification if you had that specific product wishlisted.

And yes once you purchase something it removes it automatically from your wishlist regardless of how you get it through the checkout process:)

ThanX Stacy and Jumpstartme!

I understand how that works now. So for the items that were multiples such as Toxic colors by Countess and -Silver-, Poisen or Mystikel I can just check them periodically for sales. The really one-off items I left in my WL tho, so I should not miss those on sale.

I would suggest that if you added a forum or option to request certain vendors or items to have a "spotlight" sale (*like the Pretty3D or Powerage ones) would be wonderful. I honestly wish that ali would have a sale soon, or that you would offer them a sale "spotlight" I know they would make a killing off of me! :D

ThanX again for the timely response!

Happy Valentines Day everyone!!!
