Subject: HELP!! -- Looking for long-discontinued items...

SmallFry ( ) posted Tue, 15 February 2011 at 10:41 AM · edited Sat, 11 January 2025 at 11:18 PM

Greetings!

I could use some help finding some items that used to be for sale here at Renderosity. Here's a run-down of what I've gone through so far...

  1. Years ago, gothweaver offered a set of M3 morphs in a package called "Neptune". A WIP image can be found here (http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=531855). He also offered a set called (I believe) "Hammerhead", which morphed M3 into a hideous but cool Hammerhead sharkman morph. There may also have been another M3 morph known as "Poseidon", but I'm not sure.

  2. I had always intended to buy them. However, they went on clearance and disappeared.

  3. I contacted gothweaver with the hopes of buying them off of him, but he said a hard drive crash had destroyed his original files. He had no backups. He recommended contacting the staff at Renderosity.

  4. I contacted the Renderosity staff. They tried to search for the files, but without the product codes they couldn't access their archives to get the files.

So now I turn to you all!

Might anyone out there recall getting any of these packages? Might you be able to list the product IDs so I can forward them to the folks at Renderosity and possibly get these packages after all these years? I have all these images in my head of oceanic creatures which would greatly benefit from these packages and no outlet for them. I'd greatly love to get them out so I can make room for more.

Any help would be greatly greatly greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Well, if you have his original site URL (if he had one), go to the Internet Archive (also known as the 'wayback machine'). It's hit or miss, but I've managed to actually get a few items that way.

Check and see if he'd give permission first, but some folks out there might still have it. If he says 'yes', they might be forthcoming (not me; I don't have any morphs. I know what they are, I know what they do, but I don't know how to make them work...;)

I'm usually pretty good about finding items in the store that are no longer for sale, by doing google searches for them.

However, I don't find anything called "Neptune" by "Gothweaver." Other things come up, but not that one.

Are you sure it was even released? The image says "W.I.P" which means "Work in Progress".  So it could be that it was never released in the MP at all.

I've got a similarly-fun situation. I've been wanting to track down this...   http://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/index.php?ViewProduct=48287

Alas, even the vendor doesn't have it anymore. Lost it in a hard drive crash, apparently. Good TY2 stuff is hard to come by. o.o

If you don't like the Clearance policy (the reason these items you're looking for have been removed), voice your concerns here:

The Clearance policy doesn't make much sense in this world of virtual stores and storage. Especailly if it looks like all those old packages are still stored someplace so that customers can retrieve old orders if they should suffer something like a hard drive crash.

That's why this bit with gothweaver is so frustrating. I know the packages are out there somewhere on Rendo's backups. If I'd bought the packages before they were Clearanced Away, I could go through my Order History and retrieve them. Now I have to hope that someone bought them long ago, happens to see this thread, remembers getting those packages, goes through their list of orders to find the right ones, and then comes back here to report the product ID numbers.

Stranger things have happened...

Heck, I'm still looking for Mars Hair, Pluto Hair, and 5D's backpack, but no dice...;)

Fortunately, I backed them up somewhere.....somewhere...;)

As you know the product number (48287) the vendor can easily recover this product & redownload by asking Rendo to reset it in their VCR (vendor control room). Then they could, if they want to, easily sell it to you.

This doesn't work if the product number is not known as the OP found out.
