Subject: OT: Converted video plays faster than audio?

I recorded a video using my Canon Vixia HF200 and saved it in my PC.

I want to convert its original m2ts video format to avi so I used this Freemaker Video Converter I found in google.

But the video that resulted plays very fast leaving the audio behind. I tried to copy the original video's bitrate and frame rate but its still fast.

Any video conversion experts out there?

I don't know program you mentioned so below I'll give you list of programs I'm using for such tasks (all free)

  1. virtualDub + plugin from here: http://www.virtualdub.org/beta/DShowInputDriver-0.5.zip + some codec which lets you save as avi: xvid, divx or ffdshow

  2. hdConvertToX

  3. aviDemux

  4. formatFactory (that's just ugly GUI for mencoder)

as you can see first position on the list is not just one program but that's REALLY good solution as it involves vDub :) - you can do some cutting there too.

Not familiar with the program you mentioned, I would try the free program Virtuadub, or VirtuadubMod.  You may need some additional filters/codecs, or to modify your Vifapi settings to convert some video formats. There are some great websites out there dedicated to video conversion and nothing but video conversion, many with links to a host of free tools (Doom9 comes to mind).

Check out WinFF - it's a GUI that uses FFmpeg (included with download) to convert video formats.

 

"*.m2ts" is a h.264 video stream and acc audio stream, so it is possible to use FFmpeg to  transfer the video and audio data from the AVCHD container to a MP4 container without re-encoding (some video editors "see" mp4 a little better.)
