I, basically, have given up in trying to do partial mats since I don't have the scripting ability and I just do full materials for all sets.

Well this is above my pay grade so only speculation. Do you need the nodes? This is what I get if I enable the material colors in addition to the transparency map settings and save in P4 format (no nodes included), which looks like what nomuse posted. I'm not sure the reflection color needs to be set but I set it anyway. Be sure to click on [apply] for each of the transparency settings for each material (min, max falloff) or they won't take.

material Tail
{
KdColor 0 0 0 1
KaColor 0 0 0 1
KsColor 0 0 0 1
tMin 0
tMax 1
tExpo 0
transparencyMap ":Runtime:textures:DAZ:Animals:MilHorse:MHTailTr.jpg"
0 0
ReflectionColor 0 0 0 1
}

Thank you, lmackenzie.  I tried the exact same thing with mat pose edit but the partial mat it did wouldn't even load in Poser Pro.  I had better luck editing the files in a text editor than with Mat Pose Edit.  Plus if I need a script to connect the transmap to the specular value Mat Pose Edit won't be able to help me.
