I have looked around a lot, including with japanese keywords (both in romanic and katakana japanese writing) but couldn't come up with a single hit for that one very specific prop: the Psychogun from SPace Adventure Cobra.
Would anyone know of a link to such a thing? That would be SO nice to find it :)

Actually, that specific weapon has no other name. In french only, as far as I know, it got dubbed the Delta Ray, absolutely for no reason. Both in japanese and english, it kept the Psychogun name.

There's a tendency in modeling to name obvious stuff, even fan art, something else to avoid getting the posterior sued off one...;)

Took a look, it doesn't ring a bell with me (course I don't know anything closer to anime than Girl Genius...;) Doesn't look too hard to model, if you used a texture for the center.

You might try Whatever3d, they're a good Poser search engine.

Yep. Though it would be slow going lining up all the cubes on the spine. 

Pleased to say it's now up....link above post......needs a little tweaking, instructions below (and also in zip). Though as you can see from the sample image it works rather nicely.
