just posted this in a similar thread ; ''I've been getting an 'under maintenance' page all day,,,I usually only get those during the night, then it works fine during the day,,but after getting that maint page all day, now am wondering when they'll be finished with the maintenance this time ? hopefully soon :)''

a few hours ago, I sent an email to Vue support, asking if they had any idea how long the site might be under maintenance, but they haven't replied back, now I see why after reading this thread,,I'm sure they are very, very busy trying get the site back up again..this is just terrible :(  ...guess all we can do is hope for the best.

If it was a DOS attack, I hope that the dickhead who was doing it is caught and punished.

If you are pissed off by a company, you do what I am doing with DAZ: walk away, stop buying (or at least reduce to minimum) and last, most damaging, describe (only when asked, without rants which harm your credibility) your experiences with that firm. As any marketeer can tell you, bad and rational publicity sends away lots of perspective customers.

Quote - The site now says the following

One of our servers was fried during the DOS attack and the data base was corrupted. We're having to restore everything manually, and it is taking time. Sorry for the interruption - we hope to be back online shortly.

I guess now we know.

That's better to know.  Hope they recover quickly, then.

Has anyone had problems that their e-mail account associated with e-on/cornucopia has been compromised? Someone has sent e-mails supposedly from my e-mail address to addresses I corresponded with in the past. The e-mail just included a  link to some web site (havnt clicked on it - best to be safe).

I have no evidence that this is connected to the dos attacks on e-on, but the coincidence would be a bit much. I only use that e-mail account for CG related sites- renderosity, e-on, daz etc.

I changed my password on that e-mail account, so that hopefully solved my problem.(Which is the only thing the service provider suggested too).

Perhaps you folks should consider changing your password on associated e-mail accounts too just as a precautionary measure.

Cheers

Yuippee!  E-on and Cornucopia seem to be back on line now!  I was beginning to have some serious withdrawal issues.

Quote - I have not tried anything of that kind, not even out of curiosity, because I am too scared of killing my Vue 9 Infinite legitimate (and un-legitimally fragile...) installation/activation.

Not to mention the spyware that will be added to your computer.

Woke up to find a blocked gmail account which had been sending out unsual mails even after it was changed.... odd, but possibly unrelated who knows.

I had a similar experience yesterday with someone sending out emails from my gmail account, which is the account I use with both Cornucopia and e-on.   I, too, changed my password and since then, there has been no unusual activity.  But too strange to be a coincidence, I think.

yeah someone else on the e-on forum had a similar incident.  luckily gmail stopped all outgoing mail so it wasnt too bad.

I'm relived to see the hijacking happened to other gmail accounts too.  It was kind of funny - I realize this morning that they only got down to the "C's" in the address book.  But that means they sent out a false email to Bruno who was included in my gmail address book a long time ago (and deleted by me a while ago) when he helped me.  So Bruno, if you read this post - please know I didn't send you that bogus email recently.
