Subject: Python script or way to copy shader node setup to multiple materials?

Gazukull ( ) posted Thu, 24 March 2011 at 6:01 PM · edited Fri, 22 November 2024 at 5:37 PM

I found a node setup that I really like.  Does anyone know of a way to copy it to other materials other than by hand?

So I could load a v4 material pose - then apply the shader nodes enmass to all applicable materials.

Thanks in advance for any assistence.

Yes, the easiest way I have found to change materials is to use semidieu's python script called advanced material manager. It is great.  you can say select just all the eyelashes of all your characters by typing select by name, and then just change the bits you want.

This one of his is actually free but I don't know if this would do it or not:-

save a mat file or collection and just apply it to what you need.

Thing is, I think that method saves the tex as well.  I am just trying to add the shader nodes onto different textures.

@estherau

I am going to see if the funtionality is in the free version and then contact the vendor to see if just applying shader nodes is available in the paid.  Which it looks like it does.

Have a look at VSS... people tend to use it for the brilliant free skin shader, but it really shines doing what you are trying to accomplish. Oh, and it's free, too.

@ RobynsVeil

Ok, so I think that the merchant whose shaders I was trying to copy to other textures enmass used VSS or a shader setup similar.  No really.

So that totally takes care of what I wanted to do.

Thanks a bunch!
