Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 26 1:43 pm)
Daz support usually 6takes up to two days to respond. You can request resetting your downloads from your account screen. If you click on 'itemized order history' you get a list that you can request a reset.
You might try from a local library for a better link. I have dialup so large downloads are not practicable.
Thanks. I purchased the thing over the weekend so I was getting frustrated waiting. I have a poor connection which doesn't help as you point out. I only need one more file to complete the collection. I'll give it a go. DAZ must think I'm nut's. I didn't grow up with computers and the internet.
It is a valid issue though that the file names on the download page don't match the actual file names. That means I'm looking at a buntch of files on my hard disc and can't figure out which file I need to complete the download.
Anyhow, see if I can do it now.
Thanks
Are you using a download enchancer/accelerator? If so, that's a problem.
Also never have more than 2 things DLing at once.
WARK!

Well, the long and the short of it is... pay +-$15 plus postage for a CD. DAZ warns about accelerators, but I cannot download large files without one. Only one particular file will not download.
I don't understand that their website cannot tell when you have downloaded a file completely or not. It goes by the number of times you click 'download'.
I'm not impressed.
Did you use up the resets you are allowed through the order history page? Can't you just turn the accelerator off for now - it may well not help anyway, most of them try multiple streams if they are actually working to speed the download and that may be making your connection more rather than less unstable.
Yes, I did use the resets. I don't know how but it says you have 4 tries or 8 tries but after one attempt the file I have attempted to download has disappeared from the download page. DAZ already reset it for me twice and it hasn't worked. I'm not accusing DAZ of anything. They have set it up to avoid abuse/theft or bandwidth penalty. That's fine, until it's so intense I can't actually download what I've already paid for. Then I start to get annoyed.
(EDIT): With regard to the accelerator, I have tried with and without. My internet connection is the cheapest available in Germany (E-Plus USB from Aldi) and of course, you get what you pay for...

That suggests that you have the accelerator set to retry/resume automatically, if so you'll want to switch that off as well as forcing a single stream.
The problem with many accelerators is they work by proxy. So the proxy may get the entire file and then fail to get it to your pc. I have the same problem where I have to define Daz as an exception so downloads bypass rhe accelerator.
Some days are worse than others especially when Daz is having a big sale item.

You're joking right? I have always downloaded as many files as their servers will send me and never once had any issues with them. I've had as many as 8 files downloading at once from DAZ with no side effects.
I have only a dialup connection and get about 1.8Kbps download speed. For most downloads its a matter of going to my local library or borrow a neighbors pc (he has dsl) and do the downloads there. I have never had a download via the accelerator work. packet.
The cost of a cd burn is for an entire order and as many disks as it takes . So if you make a bunch of purchases it can be worth the cost because you get it on disk.

Agreed - I generally have six running concurrently when downloading and open a new one as soon as one finishes - Firefox 4 - never a glitch.
I usually get six running then hit refresh on the download page - it updates to show which I've started and which haven't been downloaded yet.
This problem reminds me of dial up days when you'd start a download and then hold your breath hoping it finished before you were bumped off.

Anyone got any idea how long it takes DAZ to respond?
I purchased a scene which comes in umpteen 50mb files. For starters, there are always ds and poser files. Which doubles the files. I had trouble downloading one file and because the file description on the download page doesn't actually match the name of the file I had to repeatedly try to download everything to get the right file. Now my number of available downloads has been exceeded. I don't understand this. I cannot get the file. So basically I've paid for the product and even maybe through fault of my own I do not have it. This is my first problem in a few purchases, the other files having been much smaller. I have e-mailed support but as of yet have had no response.
Thanks.
