Subject: Antonia - Opinions?

SaintFox ( ) posted Thu, 31 March 2011 at 4:55 PM · edited Thu, 31 March 2011 at 4:59 PM

Ah, NOW I understand - sorry Shante, I am not a native speaker and the english thesaurus is not as extensive as the german. Many, many words in english have so many different meanings where we have one for each meaning (but still not as much as asian people).

Driven, yes, he indeed is. He is even a bit too driven, the type of person who takes two steps at once, who uses to run where others walk. Not being able to do this is hard for him but on the other hand this is the goal he longs for. Each time we talk there is a new goal, things he want to do as soon as possible. Jumping, running, today he talked about boxing again (just the fitness part, fighting is taboo now of course), being able to drive a car, a motorbike, most of all: Coming home and picking up work again. He so much longs for his 3d-work meanwhile. And whatever the trainers offer to reach these goals: He does it and they even have to cut his enthusiasm off because he is too exhausted on some days. So THIS is not the problem. If there is any problem it's a kind of impatience.

@Thalek: You wrote

Worse, my handicap is clinical depression, so it's invisible.  And there are a lot of people who feel that depression is something you can just "be a man" and get over it.  It isn't.

This reminded me on something. I am a big fan of the german bass-baritone Thomas Quasthoff. Beside his incredible voice I was always impressed by his personality. He is damaged by Contergan and really handicaped. That didn't keep him from becoming one of the greatest opera and Lied singers. I once heard an interview with him where he said: I am very lucky with my handicap as it is obvious and clearly visible. It's far more problematic to have an invisible handicap.

That made me think... he is right! The fewer is visible on the outside the more you have to explain and the more you find people that will tell you that it just needs some effort to get over it. But one thing is true: The older we get the more "dents" we get through illness, bad experiences, accidents and so on. In the end really every person has the one or other disease. Even those that told you to get over it just by the power of your will. So these people where either lucky so far or they are plain ignorant. Stigma is something (and this picks up what Shate says) OTHERS give you. Stigma is something these ignorant people give you. Are they really so important? Would you change your hairstyle or dressing style because they tell you to do it (or, if you don't they call you a rocker/gay/punk/goth/fashion-victim/whatever)? You won't, right?

I found that you get lots of freedom and peace of mind if you always ask yourself if this person is worth to be worried about his impression of yourself.  Most people aren't that ignorant, I found that most people are very nice if you freely tell them what ails you and that you need help. I get easily puzzled when I leave my home, it can reach the level of panic. And so I tend to loose track on where to leave the bus and such things. I learned to simply say to some nice looking person: Sorry, I am unsure where I have to leave the bus. I want to go to the railway station. Never, really never, someone refused to say: You have to leave the bus after two more stations. Most of them even press the button for me that makes the busdriver stop. And not one single time I left the bus without getting a smile and a nice farewell.* *

What I want to say: Beside the process when applying for help you will not have to make yourself "barenaked" when needing help. Simply say: Sorry, I have problems with this and that and only very rude persons will refuse to help you. And if you ever meet such a rude person just shake your head and ask the next person. These rude and/or ignorant people are not worth a single thought or second look - so they are not really able to hurt you, they can only make you angry. You can only be hurt by either people you like or by those with a higher authority (unfortunatly - but your lucky, there's always someone with an even higher authority 😉).* *

Okay, this was completely and fully off topic - but I had to get this off my heart as it worries me that pretty dumb and silly persons are able to keep others from getting help just by pointing with fingers on "that hadicaped person there". Please, don't care about them at all. As said: you won't care about them if they tell you what clothes you have to wear. In fact you wouldn't even listen to them.* *

Oh and yes: This sounds all very tranquil and such. In fact I VERY often make what we call a fist in the pocket. But I learnt to leave this behind and focus on the next best thing and friendly person. Most of all because I've learnt that the biggest stigma at all is if you meet someone (in other words: a plain rude and ignorant person) and a person beside you whispers: Be careful, this person is a real bastard! I can tell you: This is indeed a stigma that sticks to persons like pitch!

I'm not always right, but my mistakes are more interesting!

Thank you, Lady SaintFox.  Much of what you've said, I have had to learn over the years.  It is unfortunate, but the ignorant seem to outnumber the educated.

At any rate, if Leo does not achieve all of his goals, it will not be because he didn't try.  He sounds like the kind of person I wish I was.  :-)

But perhaps I've taken up enough of Antonia's thread.

I should not show this stage but I want to add somethig related to Antonia. I'm going to create hybrid cloth - nun outfit. ATM is pretty far from finish.

Now we can wait for news from SaintFox.

I suppose that you and Leo probably have the hardest experience in your life. Anyway People have restrictions during all theirs life. When I was 15 I was in my best physical condition. I could run over 20 km. I could climb, swim etc. But I would sacrifice my hand for touching of female breast :)

We are getting older. Everybody will have problems with theirs health. No matter what happen, you can only ask when.

As I know old BMW looks very cool with sidecar. My favourite are K750 but another models are great as well.

Dynamic cloth or conforming?

I am no motorbike expert and can hardly tell a Yamaha from a Suzuki Cruiser and it gets even harder when we come to models we call Yoghurtbecher/Yoghurtjar (because the have so much parts made of plastic). But the bike I am talking about is this one (I hope - Leo will soon correct me, I am sure!):

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/de/thumb/2/2e/BMWR45.jpg/220px-BMWR45.jpg

And about

It is unfortunate, but the ignorant seem to outnumber the educated.

So true - but as education is a blessing not everyone is eligible. Bad luck!! Sarcastic, yep - but sarcasm is not the worst way to deal with such persons. And about having to learn for years: Good things take a while, we develop as long as we live. And as you may see on really gifted and spirited people a handicap has nothing, absolutely nothing to do with talent, personality and being precious. Some very great artists and greatness(es) of mind suffered/suffer from physical or psychic handicaps. And there are some where I think that their diseases are one piece of the puzzle that makes them special*.* Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder (blind), Margarete Steiff (petrified), Gustav Mahler (dissociation), Friedrich Hoelderlin (mania) and many other great minds led me to the persuasion that what we call a disease is just something that seperates some people from those who do not (yet) know their own kind of illness.

And yes, back to the topic: drapak, I like, like, like this habit!! I would really like to try it out once it's done as I also like dynamic things. If you want to create as an commercial item I of course accept that I can't have it for free - but anyway: I like!! And I, personally, do not see a nun with a ruler. I remember the nuns on the northsea islands who play soccer with the kids while wearing their habit. *

I'm not always right, but my mistakes are more interesting!

Antonia is free and I think that a lot of her items should be free as well. It is like gratitude for Odf and rest of team for theirs hard work.

I have some problem with outfit. It is still low poly draft and I cannot predict all. Anyway I'm going to make it hybrid clothing.

I have do not know what are the names of the outfit parts in English (to be honest I have the same problem in Polish ;) )

All mesh as a  one body part - neck. Chest and head are empty Hood as a choreographed group on picture (1). Black robe (2) default dynamic. White cape (3) soft decorated. I think that belt (4) must be constrained. I'm not going to create separate belt mesh, I hope that draped fold cover lack of real belt :) I do not know what should I do with hood cape (?) which is not created yet - blue draft. I never tried calculate soft decorated group which collide against another soft decorated + choreographed. Dynamic over soft decorated is unpredictable for me. If it will not work There will be separate prop which require second calculation.

I hope that now I can continue OT :)

SaintFox, I do not want write about me or my relatives experiences. It would takes too much time and would not be optimistic, but I want to show that handicaps depends drom point of view.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_g_pxBBJ08

You can see my dog. Most people seeing her stir up. Fortunatelly mys dog does not realize that she is "poor dog". She cannot dig as well as another dogs, but for her most problem is not lack of limb. Much more serious problem is too high table - she cannot steal food.

We have handicaps all the times. Took a look around. On the street you can see a lot of road signs - all of them are handicaps. All maners are handicaps, our age is handicaps, principles are handicaps. Problem with mobility is one of them and can be accepted as well as another, but some time is needed.

I KNEW that I picked the wrong bike LOL And yes, leo now has a laptop in the rehab center and when he goes back there on Monday he can participate here again!

drapak: What a very cheerful and cool little critter you have, adorable!! I had many handicapped animals over the years: A hamster with one eye, a cat that was born blind and had only one kidney, a very old cat grandfather of 21 years who was blind as well and stubborn and oblivious. When he died we picked up two cat brothers: One is hyperactive and the other is deaf - the cool thing: They do not care. The problem: The deaf one refuses to obey you, he just looks at you and seems to sing: I can't hear you, I don't hear your "No", I will now kick this from the shelf.... 😉 We can learn a lot from animals!!

Please give me some spare days with Leo and then I will send you some dynamic clothes you may study and that may ask questions about the belt and constrained zones. But as said: Next week, please!!

LOL - you have inklusive zoo

I have only 2 dogs. Second one is Jagdterrier. I'm his 4th owner - my wife call him "grim ripper" because his previous owners died :)

BTW in case Leo have problem with BMW he can consider tricycle tricycle

With such bike he should work on his image. I think that PhilC can give him some advice ;) Then you can drive his oldtimer - you should know that woman bottom looks better on motorbike then with any maximal minimal bikini ;)

I have no problem with constrained groups. I have only doubts what happen with soft collide against another soft group. You should not worry about it now. I'm sure I'll be able to do it.

SaintFox ( ) posted Sat, 02 April 2011 at 2:46 PM

I think, as Leo is a biker since he is 18 (that makes... oh well, 35 years in July), a trike would more show him each day what he misses than be helpful. If bike riding, even with a sidecar, will never be possible again one can still switch to a cabrio (a very old Jaguar if you ask me but that's out of reach, we're too close on budget).

About the dynamic groups: There is indeed not THE way, it highly depends on what you're after.

It's just an idea because Antonia High-res has 40 polygons on the passage from the head group to the neck group as Lusitana has.

I just wanted to pop in and say thank you for the habit (and the nice word-plays I wrote down 😉). Still too few time for distraction and sitting on the computer just for fun but it looks as if it's worth it. Leo told me to say "Hi" to everybody, meanwhile he calls the rehab center his "second home" but on the other hand "Zauberberg" (because of the "Magic Mountain" by Thomas Mann) - a reason for him to escape at least on Saturday and Sunday because such a center does shelter the patients too much from real life (so that some of them would like to stay there forever...). I visit him at least once a week so that we can spend some hours together and tell us the news of the week.

The rehab will go on until the beginning of May - what means being not together for eight weeks in the end. Something we are not used to and it looks as if we won't get used to it even if we have some practise now.

Working is slow but I have prepared some new poses for Antonia that I will upload soon!

Sneek peek of a dynamic Grecian dress for Antonia I'm working on. If I can remember exactly how, I'll make some conforming sandals. The outfit is begging for it...lol.

The dress is comprised of two objects: the dress (with the overskirt) and the cape thingy.

Netherworks ( ) posted Thu, 14 April 2011 at 12:16 AM

Laurie,

You could just as easily make due with prop sandals.  You could throw a magnet on the end and create a toe bend morph if you really feel they would need it ;)  Conforming would be better for boots and such but I'm not sure sandals need that at all.

Dress looks great!

Thanks for the heads up, Les, I posted to the thread and will see if I can find out what the problem is.

I'm not always right, but my mistakes are more interesting!

And I am not strange, I am Limited Edition!

Quote - Sneek peek of a dynamic Grecian dress for Antonia I'm working on. If I can remember exactly how, I'll make some conforming sandals. The outfit is begging for it...lol.

The dress is comprised of two objects: the dress (with the overskirt) and the cape thingy.

Hey Laurie I just came back from your shoe making thread and very impressed, posted a comment there.

This dress looks great. I hope I can figure out how dynamic clothes work so I can use it.

Is it wrong to take an existing sandal product and with permisson from original maker reformat it to work effectively with Antonia?

Hello people :)

I have been away from this thread for some time due many things as vacations, and work, and more work... but as I love Antonia, I keep supporting her in all my hair models. This time, is the reworked Alanis.

Hope you like her with it, here is an image of her using the Sienna Color and one of the many styles this hair has.

Must say that the hair has not a hair fit, it has a Built In morph that puts the hair over her as if done just for her head.

Hope you like it, is in the store now... and I just got 2 messages from customers asking me where they can get Antonia LOL so I sent them directly here and the Freestuff section.

I really like a lot this model, just would love to have more time to play with her...

see ya

Don't tell me that I am wrong if I say I saw pointed ears this morning, in my mirror... they are there.
