Subject: Remove a Runtime from P8 Library??

Realmling ( ) posted Sun, 03 April 2011 at 11:18 AM · edited Sat, 23 November 2024 at 7:59 AM

Search-Fu hasn't been working for me today no matter what I tried - so if there's a thread out there for this already a link would be much appreciated.

Anywho - I redid a rather large external runtime and wanted to make sure it was going to work before I moved it from the temp install location. So I just quick added the runtime to my P8 library.

And I can't seem to find any way to remove the dang things. (tester and the one it will be replacing ... and just in general)

I can add all I want, but not remove them? Please tell me I'm just blind this morning and maybe need to clean my glasses - though they're not all that smudged with frustrated fingerprints. Don't care where it is, but I want my P8 remove runtime option that I'm staring at in my P6 right now.

Page 93 in the Poser 8 reference manual:

Removing Libraries
The Remove Library button appears when a library other than the
Poser default libraries is selected. You cannot delete the default
Poser library. Deleting libraries only severs the link between the
Library folders and the Library palette. It does not remove any of the
folders or content from your hard drive. This protects your data from
accidental deletion and allows you to reuse Libraries at need (such
as from removable drives).
If you want to remove the Library from your hard drive
completely, you will need to do this manually by deleting the
folder and contents from your hard drive. Exercise extreme
caution when deleting library folders from your hard drive, as
they will be irretrievably lost.
To remove a library:
Use the  1.  Show Library list to select the Library that you want
to delete.
Click the  2.  Remove Library button (minus sign) to remove
the selected Library from the Library palette. The name of the
library is removed from the Show Library list, and its contents
no longer appear in the Library.

Bugger that. I must be missing an update or something because I don't get the pretty little remove button.

Life seems to hate me recently, so I'm not all that surprised.

You have to click "Show Library" and select the library you want to delete for the delete button to show.

Curling up on the couch with a book is sounding better and better as the day goes on. Can't be trusted with a computer it seems.

You're welcome. I often have selective vision, too.

Right, and so it should probably be pointed out that Show Library can also be used to show just one library, which is handy when you have a big pile of them to scroll through but you only need stuff from one of them at the moment.

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

I have just the book for you to curl up with, Practical Poser 8 by Richard Schrand. Ran across it at the used book store for $5...still in the shrink wrap. Hey, there are advantages to living in what may be the cultural nadir of the world.
