I was discussing a topic on Daz forums when someone posted their animation work.

Small teaser trailer from a full-length film "Lost Planet", made in Bryce 5.5c, Poser 4 Pro and After Effects 5.5 in Russian language, with English Subtitles.

not sure that the poses were done in Bryce. After Effects is great for compositing Bryce and Poser renders. Newer versions of Bryce, I think, have DazStudio integration, but v5.5c I don't know, does it?

DgerzeeBoy ( ) posted Sat, 27 February 2010 at 11:33 PM · edited Sat, 27 February 2010 at 11:34 PM

Human figures imported into Bryce are virtually frozen in the pose of their respective obj's and can't be re-animated there. Looks like the Bryce animation was used as background for the figures' animation. Where there are instances of animated figure shadows (not all shots include them) the figure and ground are most likely rendered in Poser or DAZStudio and backgrounded with Bryce. Same for animated figures sitting in chairs or lying down. Both figure and chair or figure and gurney/table also seem to be Poser or DAZStudio renders with Bryce as a background.

"!@#%%%&*Microsoft!
I clicked the link you posted and it doubled the http:// then popped up a google image search page. We're sorry we can't find your search item try using fewer terms.

I chopped off the first http:// and it added right back. I deleted it from the history and tried again and it added it right back.

Finally I went to yourube and searched for watch?v=cD-vk9vG7xA I found the lost planet trailer and clicked the link. Guess what? No, this time it played perfectly but it wasexactly the same link you posted.

I've noticed with pages like yahoo if an image is corrupt instead of the article loading with a place holder Internet explorer 8 jumps to google image search. I wanted to read the article not see how I can lower my rates by clicking on the dancing girl. Any Idea how to turn google search off?

Quest ( ) posted Sun, 28 February 2010 at 12:23 PM

I'm having the same problem. Worst yet, Microsoft gives back a connection diagnosis page and says the site may be down for some reason or another. I plug the link into Firefox and I’m there viewing the video with no problem…go figure.

Kool movie, well done. I agree…Bryce was probably the background filler while all the animation was done in Poser and everything composited in After Effects. I once did a sword fighting sequence between a Poser skeleton and a P5 man using Poser 4 in a simple 3DS Max dungeon setting and it was fun but tedious sort of like stop action sequencing while the camera revolved around the action. Could have composited in 3DS Max Video Post but went strictly Poser at the time. I could only imagine the hours they must have invested in producing this.

The link shown in the first post is bad. It may have an erroneous whitespace character or something else in the link's target.

In my browser (Firefox, latest version) it doesn't even show as a clickable link. I did copy paste it though, try grabbing it from the left side.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cD-vk9vG7xA

that will do.

Analog-X64 ( ) posted Sun, 28 February 2010 at 12:43 PM

I wish I could go back and edit my first post to fix the link, but there is that timeout thing.

staigermanus: thanks for the fixed link.

electroglyph ( ) posted Sun, 28 February 2010 at 1:58 PM

Thanks staigermanus from all us technically challenged folks. I didn't really mean to detract from the original intent of the post.

I've done some animations in Bryce. The ship flybys and the loader picking things up were Bryce. Decent frame rates and resolutions on a single machine took me a couple days rendering time per minute. I have great respect for anyone who did a feature length film this way. It probably represents a couple years work!

All frames by movie

"Lost Planet" frames

I created movie from 2002 to 2010 years.

Length : 1 hour 35 minutes 48 seconds 7 frames (143707 frames)

It is not a commercial project. This is my hobby.

Fantastic job!!  I am always pestering DAZ to make the bridge from DAZStudio to Bryce work better for animatiors.  As it stands I cannot consistently get more than thirty or forty frames of DS animation to cross over the bridge and when it does, it takes forever.  DAZ appears to be genuinely interested in clearing this up.  Here's hoping for easier animation in Bryce in the future.

PoserUserFromRussia ( ) posted Mon, 20 December 2010 at 12:13 PM

I don't use the bridge from DAZ Studio to Bryce. I don't use DAZ Studio. You're quite right that DAZ does not pay attention animators. For example, broken button for animation control in Bryce 7. This button are not corrected even in version Bryce 7.1

Today I translate my movie in English language for the subtitles. This work is most difficult for me.

Introducing the first part of the full-length animated movie "Lost Planet" with English subtitles.

When I worked on the project, I used the following programs :

DAZ Bryce 5.5c (2007) - Animation environment
Curious Labs Poser 4 Pro (2001) - Character Animation
Adobe After Effects 5.5 (2001) - Creation of animated compositions
Adobe Premiere 4.2 (1996) - Video Editing
Wondertouch Particle illusion 3 (2003) - Effects with particles
Corel Photo Paint 8 (1998) - Texturing
Sonic Foundry Sound Forge 5 (2001) - Sound processing

The next parts of the movie will be added as soon as perform the translation from Russian into English for the subtitles.

I thought that was funny when the pilot said how good she looked with the mask on.  I liked the scene where the woman went through the teleportation device too.  The animation of the crane lifter was impressive as well.

I created a tutorial on working with Russian phonemics and the animation of Russian speech. The Mimic program does not work with Russian talk. I used Mimic 3 for create a library of Russian phonemes. Next, I create an animation of Russian speech in Poser by step mode. Perhaps, this tutorial will not be relevant for English-speaking users, but this method you can apply for other languages.

This tutorial is entirely in Russian.
