Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 09 3:46 am)
Quote - Save the character that you've created to Poser's 'Characters' library, (using the 'plus-sign' at the bottom of the library display) then load it from there into your new scene.
(At least that's the process in P6, -- can't tell you the specifics for P2010's library .)
I am not seeing any "plus-sign" at the bottom of my Character's library.
So I guess they changed it in PoserPro 2010. :p
Yeah, it adds EVERYTHING, so dump the lights and other stuff you don't want to be replaced or added.
Still the long way around though. Until someone else comes along to tell you what to click to add a figure to the Characters library in P2010, you might just try the Help Tab and look for "Add to Library".
The screen grab is what the Plus-Sign button looked like in P6.
…and just to lead you somewhat further astray, even after you locate the ‘Save to Library’ button for P2010, you may still find that importing full pz3 scene files has some other advantages.
For example, it allows you to import a figure in a scene along with all of its keyframes for an animation or morph changes. You can also set up a Poser '.pp2' file to allow you to import a full '.pz3' scene file by clicking an icon in your Prop Library.
Hmm...
Thank you for the information.
I think I figured it out, it turns out that the "add to library" does exist but only after you create a new library and have it's contents (which is empty at the beginning) selected.
Sad that there is no documentation of this in the User Manual, the Reference Manual or the Tutorial.
"Sad that there is no documentation of this in the User Manual, the Reference Manual or the Tutorial."
The Poser library is fully documented in chapter 7 of the manual. Item 14 on page 94 states, "Save to Library (+) Click this button to add the item that is currently selected in your scene to the library". The annoted diagram on page 92 clearly shows where item 14 is located.
Hope this helps.

I have a character I created in one scene that I want to use in other scenes, the only way I can figure out how to use it is by saving the same scene as a different name and then deleting all of the other props until I have just the character and what I want in new scene.
Then I just add new props to make the new scene. My problem is now I have 2 characters from two different scenes that I want to put in the same scene. How can I do this?
Is there a way to save a character in Poser?
I have Poser 2010.
Thank you for any assistance. :)
