What is the best way to light a scene of an indoor arena. I have tried a ring of spotlights but I have not been able to get look quite right.

Well, there's normally a lot reflected light in an indoor arena, so hanging a radial light high above and then putting a couple around the perimeter to provide general fill light might work, but not knowing specifically what you are goint for or what results you are unhappy with... TomD

One important principle for lighting 3D scenes, and it took me a while to learn it: Wrong way - work out what light sources exist in the "real life" scene and build them in Bryce. Right way - work out how you want the lighting to look in your finished picture and create lights that do this. This is because lights in Bryce (or any other app) do not behave quite the same way as they do in the real world. Therefore do not worry too much about tying your lights to actual modelled sources. Go for effect. Experiment with different combinations of spots and radials, with AND WITHOUT shadows. Often it's best to restrict the number of lights that cast shadows.
