You know, there are some people in this world that just deserve a medal for being good and helping others... Case in point, the guy who has the above site... So, what has this fellow done to deserve such praise... He has posted on his page amazingly, high resolution, highly detailed photos of the leaves of 37 trees... count 'em, 37... :) that means that we can get a helluva lot more mileage out of our Vue trees...

woo hoo!!! thanks Trad!!

Hey, that's cool! Thanks for the link. :) Of course, they need a good deal of work before they could be used in Vue on most of the trees, but it's a good starting point. :)

Varian ( ) posted Fri, 17 August 2001 at 9:27 AM

Ooohoooo! Thanks for letting us know about these, Paul! Just can't get enough leaves. :)

tradivoro ( ) posted Fri, 17 August 2001 at 10:16 AM

Well, yeah, they need work but at least you don't have to go out, pluck a leaf, scan it, etc... And these are great quality... So, I want to see if I make higher resolution leaves and these are great... So yeah, I think people into vegetation are going to be happy...

Hey, what can I say? I downloaded every last one of 'em. :)

tradivoro ( ) posted Fri, 17 August 2001 at 3:52 PM

Me too... :)

bloodsong ( ) posted Fri, 17 August 2001 at 5:40 PM

heyas; great! so who's gonna convert 'em to vue? let's split 'em up, no use one person doing them all. (or worse, several people doing them all.) um... if he'd allow us to make and share a vue version of 'em, that is.

MikeJ ( ) posted Fri, 17 August 2001 at 5:46 PM

But what if he's a Brycer? ;) I was already planning on trying out some of them for use with the Monstera, since I don't seem to be any good with that blasted method of having to make a symmetrical "X" pattern for the trees. If I come up with anything decent, I'll email the guy and ask permission. :)

MikeJ ( ) posted Fri, 17 August 2001 at 5:49 PM

is there a way to convert image-based plant materials straight to Vue's .prv files, like the ones that come with Vue, where it doesn't link to an image file of some sort? Not like that would be in lieu of asking permission, but it would make uploading easier, and file sizes smaller.

Varian ( ) posted Fri, 17 August 2001 at 10:06 PM

No method known to users, just to the E-on insiders. :) The PRV extension just stands for "PRiVate" (my guess), and it's used for other things, too, not just veggie images, so it's not really a format as such. At least, not an image format.

I don't think the guy minds at all... I wrote him to thank him for putting up all these leaves... I told him I fool around with 3D programs and they might come in handy in projects... He replied that how I found out about the site, I told him through search engines, and he apologized for the site that he's thinking of fixing it up... And that was it... :) I replied that I thought the site was fine and inasmuch as I'm not waiting for an answer, cause I don't think he's going to reply...

Varian ( ) posted Sat, 18 August 2001 at 2:45 AM

Man, I thought his site was set up quite fine. Very easy to understand and navigate; you can get right to what you want, and it's clear where you're going before you get there. I'd give him an A. :)

tradivoro ( ) posted Sat, 18 August 2001 at 12:37 PM

I agree with the A rating... But Yeah, but you know, youngblood and all... :) He's probably lamenting the fact that it's not flash and he's not using cold fusion... :)

Varian ( ) posted Sat, 18 August 2001 at 11:21 PM

LOL, you're probably right!!

Niggie ( ) posted Thu, 30 August 2001 at 6:12 AM

Hey ! What happened to this site ?? All I get is HTTP 500 errors! :(

Varian ( ) posted Thu, 30 August 2001 at 11:25 AM

I just tried right now, and the site came right up. Maybe there was a glitch earlier. Try again. :)
