Subject: Poser mechs

There seem to be very few of these on Rendo or Daz3D. Are they hiding anywhere else, or are piloted war-robots just not a popular subject for renderers?

I think you may find some at Vanishing Point.

They tend to come and go. I've seen a few in freebies here, but to be honest, I think they go to Vanishing Point as well...;)

My favorite, although I have not bought it yet, but it looks cool, is the Sentinel robot.

Freebies - like TheFixer and Pakled says :) Also don't  forget the warhammer ones in their free stuff. Plus theres a freebie 50's style one here (link above).

Products - if you like manga style ones, I'm  just mapping/colouring in two for VP over this weekend.

BTW - CP recently used the sentinel mech in theirRock Jocks animation contest, I also made a few quickie freebie texture sets for that as well. Not 100% sure where  they  are, think maybe at CP.

Pinky - you left the lens cap of your mind on again.

Sad part is, all of these used to be available, Poser based, and free. I saw on the Runtimedna site, where others have tried to reach the modelers over the years and can not find them.

Oh my, Battletech... I think I have those all still saved on the old desktop... I always meant to do a render with the Madcat since I am actually a Battletech/Mechwarrior player, tabletop not computer games, and my main character pilots a Madcat.

There used to be some Robotech ones around too.  Not sure I can remember where.

Huh, wonder if I can get the runtimes off that machine... Since my family isn't doing Easter til tomorrow I think I have a project for today.

Anyone ever seen a coolant vest and neurohelmet? :p

Cariad ( ) posted Sun, 24 April 2011 at 10:28 AM

Apparently my kids were helpful at some point and deleted my runtimes from that machine... I still have the Bushwhacker and the ShadowCat but the Madcat is MIA, as is the Chimera and Vulture.  They were nice too...

I wish that they were still available.

Those ones where made by a guy called John Mallis

If you can work out the name of the site they where on, sometimes it's possible to  recover things using  the  Wayback Machine. Doesn't always work, but it' s worth a try, found an old startrek freebie that way.

John Malis's mechwarrior stuff is no longer. it was on RDNA and vanished along with a sizeable chunk of freebies way back when.
