Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 24 6:22 pm)
Can you be more specific? Is Ryan a figure, a character? For which figure, do you remember the vendor?
There could be many reasons, including the vendor moved it to another store, or decided to pull the character. Forum staff aren't going to be able to tell you that.

Ryan is designed to take (limited) advantage of the newer rigging features of Poser 8 and Poser Pro 2010. The figure is licensed to be distributed with those versions of Poser. I have licenses for Poser 5, 6, 7, and Poser Pro, but I haven't opened those programs since Poser 8 came out.
Some people have found reasons to use Poser 7 because of problems in P8/PP2010. Conceivably there might be reasons for someone who owns Ryan to open a scene in an earlier verson of Poser. So, knowing about compatability problems would be helpful. I, myself, have not yet had a need to do so.
I tried Ryan out some, but there is little support for "him." A search at Content Paradise finds only three products (none at Renderosity, RDNA, or Poser Addicts). With decent added textures, morphs and content, Ryan could be as useful as most figures. At least there is Poser/Wardrobe Wizzard support for the figure, so there should be plenty of cloths.
Maybe some one has actually tried Ryan in Poser 7, or would be willing to run a test. I am at work, and cannot do it now.

Post Script:
The never ending complaint about figures, Ryan too, is that they are not proportioned like real people. A lot of users don't like "his" looks. Some one should be able to whip out a quick render to post.

You want support for original Poser figures? You have to wait until DAZ releases Poser incompatible figures before that will happen. Until then, Poser figures will get very little attention, everyone will be using the more popular DAZ figures.
I'm pretty sure that if someone released something for Ryan, they could count the sales on one hand, maybe two. That's not worth spending all the creating time on.
If you're (or perhap we're all) lucky enough, the next generation of DAZ figures will not be compatible with Poser and other figures finally stand a chance and other good (or even better) figures finally get the attention they deserve.

Or, my suggestion in cases where you can't find something for a character is...see what you can do to improvise. IIRC, WW is included for the P8 figures, and from what I've seen it converts clothing wonderfully. Morphing Clothes also works. I was never able to get the Cross Dresser to work right, but some people have, and with great results.
Huh...I just checked over at RDNA, and I was surprised that they don't even have anything for Alyson over there :( There's a few characters here for her that I absolutely ADORE. I'll keep an eye out, and ask in a few places if anyone knows of anything...but, hey. The stuff that comes WITH P8? Not bad. Not bad, at all.

I've used Alyson several times, but I've only rendered an image with Ryan once. (He's in the jury in the image linked above.)Simon looks rather creepy to me, so if I have need of a villain, he often fulfills that role. One of the nice things about having James, Jessie, Alyson, Ryan, Simon, Sydney, Michael and Victoria is that they all look reasonably different. Apparently, though, everything is going to change when the NEW version of Poser and the DAZ Gen 5 figures come out . . .
