"What 3D Program Should I buy?" Not one person here can really tell you what's best for you, as everyone has their own taste in workflow. Try the demo or learning edition of the program you're interested in, this is the only way to find out which programs you like.
You're converting your splines objects to polygon objects before exporting the model? All your objects use 3 and 4-sided polygons? What is the poly-count of your largest object? You're exporting the model in what format?

The splines were converted to editable meshs. Exported as .3DS, but also tried .obj with the same result. The largest mesh is the Poser figure; perhaps I should backtrack and remove him from the total mesh, then re-export and try that. I've created several spline curves and lines and exported them with no problems. Thanks for your prompt reply to the posting.
The total mesh poly-count cannot be more than 65,535 if exporting in the ancient 3DS format as far as I know. OBJ shouldn't have a problem with the total mesh poly-count. Did all your rendering apps do this or just Bryce? Maybe Bryce needs the model imported in parts. You can also narrow the problem down to the offending object that still needs editing.

I've been working on a model in an old version of Max (6). I used spline lines for support ropes in the model. When rendering in other apps (Bryce 6, Vue 7, Poser) these lines exhibit strange behavior. I've included a pic from bryce- in Poser, the lines show up as big balloon like structures. I suppose I could use cylinder meshes, but it's much more time consuming. Any suggestions or advice is appreciated.
Thanks
Paul
