Jan Švankmajer did the stop-motion version of Alice In Wonderland, that is pretty much as you describe.

Found a link for that on YouTube

Or maybe this one called Jabberwocky?

Here is a search of his films. I'll leave you to look through them. Many are too macabre for my viewing.

Late 70s early 80s. The Quay Brothers did the same movies. Lots of tangled string and pocket lint and wood chips and dead bugs and stuffed animals swirling around and/or made into puppets with not much story. Painful to watch. Was cool though 30 years ago because it wasn't Gumby stop-motion for a change.

Thanks for the suggestions, gang. AFAIK the one I'm thinking of was made in the 70s.

Thanks!
Street of Crocodiles is very similar but not the one I'm thinking of. I'll continue to look through them all.
Even if I don't find the one I'm looking for, these are all worth watching.

Sounds to me like 'The cabinet of jan svankmajer' by the brothers quay, but I believe it's 80's rather than 70's.

Thanks, Carodan. Haven't seen that one yet. I'll look it up.

I'm trying to find out about a stop motion short movie I saw years ago, which featured a lot of old, worn out and battered looking objects. IIRC, it was set in an old shop, which had dirty windows. There was a tailor's mannequin in there, I believe.
The nearest candidate I can think of for making such a movie is the above named Jan Švankmajer but a look - admittedly rather quick - through info about him and his movies hasn't revealed anything.
If you know anything about the movie I mentioned, such as title, director or whatever, I'd be very grateful for the info.
On a Poser related note, the style of the movie and Švankmajer's stuff would be great for 3D work.
