THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: I am throwing in a PD Howler for the winner of the Bryce challenge

staigermanus ( ) posted Thu, 26 May 2011 at 8:49 AM · edited Fri, 22 November 2024 at 3:12 PM

The monthly Bryce challenge is almost coming to completion.

If you win the challenge I am throwing in a copy of PD Howler. The only requirement is that in addition to the Bryce contest's own conditions, the winning picture must also have had some Project Dogwaffle uses such as  PD Particles, PD Pro, PD Artist  or any other version of PD, even free version). It can be by way of postwork or by creating foliage or other elements that you map on to billboard polygons, or use as texture, in the 3D scene in Bryce.

Good luck and happy Bryce'ing this weekend. Only a few days left for the May Bryce challenge to end May 31st!

Not sure if this is the way to go. This sort of thing needs announcing at the START of a comp, not near the end....hmmmm,....Chris...we need input on this.. ...

Once in a while I look around,
I see a sound
and try to write it down
Sometimes they come out very soft
Tinkling light sound

I'm afraid Bobby is correct.

Although such a great offer is appreciated there are too many entries approved already to backtrack now. The same would apply for additional requirements by the challenge setter - the previous winner of the Bryce Challenge. This kind of thing needs to be sown up as soon as the Official Challenge page is published.

Further to this, if I read this correctly - and please tell me if I'm wrong - this would require the purchase of a product? If so, then as this is a Bryce Challenge, the use of PD products would count as postwork which is often to be kept to a minium.

I've not had my full coffee intake here, so I might not have a good handle on this.

correction: no purchase of a PD product is needed. There's a free version of PD at www.thebest3d.com/dogwaffle/free.

Maybe this came across wrong. My invitation was really more aimed at existing Dogwafflers, inviting them to join the Bryce challenge. I posted my invite on the Dogwaffle forum at Yahoogroups first, in hopes for a few more to join the Bryce forum here and submit to this challenge.A long weekend coming up, it seemed like a good reason lol

The use of their Dogwaffle tool could be postwork indeed but also it could be pre-work, such as creating foliage and shrubbery images with the particle brushes to then map onto billboard polygons in the 3D scene. I saw the description of some of the current participants and noticed them listing all sorts of tools and content sources, so perhaps wrongfully deducted that it was ok to use more than pure Bryce. Sorry, my bad.

We can re-do this next month or later if you feel like it :-)

Actually only the winner of a challenge gets to make the specifications as to what can or can not be used in a challenge so I figure you'd either have to win the challenge, or talk the actual winner into your idea. Just my read on the situation.. ...

Well my mistake on the purchase thing. I stand corrected and my thanks to staigermanus for making things clear for me.

I'm sure we can come to some arrangement, but you threw us a curved one there. This would actually be the first time a prize has been offered and it is very much appreciated.

Let's go into IMs before the next challenge and brainstorm the idea.

Thanks again.
