Subject: Antonia - Opinions?

SaintFox ( ) posted Sun, 19 June 2011 at 5:27 PM

Ahhh.... that looks good BE!!!! I like the shimmer on her skin a lot.

I am working on a solution featuring a master dial 'MDAvatar', in Antonia's body actor, with input value 1.0 causing the figure to be in MD fitting pose whilst the rotation channels are zero. This would provide a solution for dynamic clothing.

Now THAT would be a handy tool!!

I'm not always right, but my mistakes are more interesting!

And I am not strange, I am Limited Edition!

I just finished a render to satisfy my Poser Fix need and of course, who better than Antonia as the star?

That little black dress is fabulous!

how do you like this hair for her?

It is a new one for me but I just had to have it when I saw it...lol.

I just had to do a close-up of this Pherenike Hair, it is available here on Rosity.

It is easy to adjust for Antonia and looks perfect on her. :)

It has a lot of options and can even be used on the male models...I love it!

Playtime is over, so it's back to  real life and my 3d work. lol.

This Might have been asked already, but 342 pages is a lot to slog through. How tall is  Antonia on the Poser scale compared to P8 Alyson and V4?

EnglishBob ( ) posted Tue, 21 June 2011 at 3:13 AM

Attached Link: Scale of Models in Poser

It depends what scale you use.

Using the scale that seems most sensible to me (i.e. not Poser's built-in scale), Antonia is 1.7 metres tall, or a little over 5' 7" as opposed to Victoria 4's 1.79m / 5 feet 10 and a half. Alyson I don't know about.

Thanks, Bob. I still don't know how Tall Alyson is supposed to be, but I loaded her up next to Olivia G2 and she's definitely shorter. But why did you measure V4 and S4 standing on their tip toes?

I didn't - V4 and M4's basic meshes are modelled on tiptoe, so I had to pose them and S4 to get a proper flat-footed measurement. For other figures, I measured their mesh without any posing involved since their feet are already flat.

I think I must have done something similar with Antonia, since her basic pose is with her legs splayed, which would reduce her height. I forgot to make a note of it though, so I should check that I did what I think I did before I get much further.

Quote - How tall is  Antonia on the Poser scale compared to P8 Alyson and V4?

The question is not as simple to answer as you might think (or is it just me, making it more complex than in needs to be?).

I addressed the question of Antonia's hight in a couple of posts a few pages back, see the links below.

Antonia's Hight, and how to change it.

How to scale props to match Antonia's hight.

The value I get for Antonia's hight is:

0.699620 PNU
6' 0.2008"
72.2008 Inches
1833.9 mm
1.8339 Meters

The values for inches and mm are as given by P6 (rounded out for the last decimal place).

The value you get depends on how you take the measurement. My measurement is what you get if you load Antonia and measure the altitude of the top of the head without doing anything else to Antonia.

I measured V4's hight, though not with the same exactitude I used for Antonia. Here is the value I got with V4 in a zero pose, except for the feet, which were posed flat on the floor:

0.733620 PNU
75.709586 Inches
1923.023424 mm
1.923024 Meters

A bit of a confession: whilst I've pretty much downloaded every item known to be part of this product and even installing Antonia into her own runtime, I haven't really done all that much with her: programming in matmatic Python and more recently dynamic cloth explorations have taken all my time and energy ... not that there's limitless time an energy at my disposal.

But, now that SaintFox has put her incredibly compelling resource kit for Antonia on special, that's it: broke down and got it. No more excuses! Now I'll find out what all the fuss (fun!) is about. 😄

the long gown is already on the antonia site but i am not happy with her, so i am working on a version 2, currently i have made these changes :

can be used from the Antonia zero pose, she don't need a special pose anymore
bottom is larger and train a little longer
bodice is redesigned and more fit to the body

Theoretically this could be done, creating a little Antonia Bundle. But on the other hand I wouldn't want to be the one to decide what is essential and what is an extra - no, really not! I mean: As I have a penchant for nudes and half-nudes I think that it is able to live without Les' "Dial-a-nipple"... but in fact this would be pure existance, not really a life  And (thanks for the nice words, RobynsVeil!!) not having sazzyazzca's makeup templates as a texturer will end in endless experiments to get those darn liners right. And so on, and so on... So each one has his own focus depending on what he wants to create.

@rjjack: The render with the icescater is a little wonder - it belongs into the gallery!!

...and I know that I owe you a pm but my computer decided to refuse working and needed a reinstall of the OS (the first after five years so I am not complaining too much). In other words: I am far behind.

And I might get some more sets done if real life would give me a little more time...sigh.

The silver texture is coming alonf fine but I ran into one little barrier...getting the genital area to blend with the torso without a seam...ugh.

EClark1894 was asking for a starter kit and by definition this is something to start, targeted to the newcomer who want to discover Antonia but don't know exactly which package they need to download to have something working, the seasoned users know what they need.

IMO the starter kit is a good idea and we it need to help the newcomers to start with Antonia

Thalek ( ) posted Fri, 24 June 2011 at 3:04 PM

Or at worst, several text files with various starter kit suggestions, with information on where the various bits can be obtained.

That would let everyone interested state their opinion on the "optimum" starter kit, and give the neophyte several suggestions to choose from.  We know there is no starter kit that everyone would agree on, but there's no need for anyone to feel slighted that their idea wasn't used . . .

A starter package is a good idea but it would need to be kept a reasonable size.

As for putting the "Anna" texture in it, isn't that one of SaintFox's retail sets?

Maybe her free texture could go in and if someone wants to get a package together, they can add the free Nana Mae set too.

On another note:My silver set is coming along nicely now that I found why I had the seam issue, and should be ready for testing in a week or so.

I'll post to let everyone know when I get it to the testing phase. :)

Okay, so I got rid of all my Antonia files and started redownloading them and reinstalling them with an eye to what I need at minimum to get up and rendering.

So far, I downloaded the Base figure file which has four Antonia object files. This confused me a bit. Okay so I get the point of the lo resolution figure. But Why the different v120 and v120A versions?

I also couldn't find a texture file that said it was for the v.120 figure, but I found two files for the v.120A and downloaded that. So while my v.120 figure is still textureless, the v.120A file isn't.

Also found some poses and templates that work. Also some head morphs.

Fortunately all the files I've downloaded so far can be found on Blue echo's site.

bagoas ( ) posted Sat, 02 July 2011 at 9:51 AM

Quote - But Why the different v120 and v120A versions?

Unless stated otherwise, textures are for Antonia1.2 (without 'A').

The 'A' versions are the original rather unconventinal mapping, featuring the bust, shoulders, arms and upper end of the back as one continuous, sort of 'poncho' shape.

EClark1894 ( ) posted Sat, 02 July 2011 at 11:07 AM

Wouldn't it be simpler to just get rid of the 1.2A version then and just deal with the 1.2 version?  I thought the 1.2A version was the latest one.

Some of the textures won't work on the latest set.

A few of my texture sets were made for the first release and I haven't converted them as yet.

Likewise there are some morphs that haven't been converted for the latest release.

Many people said that they like the mapping of the A (the older) version better - and many liked the new mapping better. As Antonia is a community project and a kind of experimenting platform, too, we decided to keep both.

Let's see if I can help you out....

These are for the new mapping (the standard without an A)

Nana Mae

Toni Polygon and Toni Polygon Makeup (an add-on)

For more variety I would recommend sazzyazzca's ethnic head morphs and 3Dream's headmorph

(I confess that I am not sure if the other head morphs on the freebie site still work)

Then, as said, pick up "Dial-a-nipple", it still works with the most recent version of Antonia and makes it easy to alter the appearence of the breast.

The bodymorphs by Jules and patorak are a must have - and maybe someone helps me out and points me to  more morphs working with the actual version?

If you want poses: All the "Assorted poses" I've uploaded here and at the freebie site work with Antonia 1.2

Clothes: At least all the dynamic clothes work with any version. The little black dress by rjjack contains a how-to and poses helping you to fit a commercial set of Hi heeled pumps (those by Ali for Angela).

Okay, I did it - that's what I think is essential to get started and to have some variety and fun from the first try and for weeks. And I am sure that I forgot things (and that's what I wanted to avoid...)

So be sure to check out this section as well:

SaintFox ( ) posted Sun, 03 July 2011 at 2:31 PM

That's a very nice dress, rjjack. As for texturing and paler skin: If you are not (very) experienced you might get seams when color-shifting textures. So maybe you want to try VSS? Just apply the Toni Polygon texture, change the textures (bump and color texture, in some places transparencies) against those you've made (not colorshifted) and change the color of the "tint" node (all on the left)?

You may as well look here:

http://www.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/showthread.php?thread_id=2737823&page=33#message_3295614

and look for examples by bagginsbill with his Vargas-Shader (available here, together with the Albino Shader):

http://sites.google.com/site/bagginsbill/free-stuff/random-shaders

If the shader looks puzzeling: I swear that it's not that complicated as only few nodes hold textures and only these need to be changed (as long as you are not in an experimenting mood, of course you can do far more with them).

This way you can alter the appearance of the skin without touching the seams!

I've been having fun with the Living Doll textures this weekend as well (when I got 5 minutes at the computer - my niece's birthday sort-of took centre-stage). Only thing is the eyes: I can't seem to figure out how the eye textures are meant to work. For the iris, I've got pupil, iris and schlera texture all in that region. I've tried to find a reference to it here in the thread - daunting task! - and on the wiki... but somehow I'm missing those instructions.

Could anyone direct me, please? Thank you so much (in advance) 😄

...and here's the cornea. As you see the cornea and the pupil are built just from procedurals in this case. Definitly not the only solution but I found that the eyes look good this way.

So what you need is only one eyetexture containing iris and eyewhite (I've added the pupil to the Living Doll set to fake a natural, uneven look) and, if desired (and recommended) a bump map of the sclera only.
