Subject: preview lights vs render

mikeihde ( ) posted Thu, 23 June 2011 at 11:45 AM · edited Tue, 14 January 2025 at 9:27 AM

How can I see the lighting in preview and have them look the same in the final render? Most of the time what I see in preview looks nothing like the render. Using PP2010, Mac.

bagginsbill ( ) posted Thu, 23 June 2011 at 12:15 PM

Get Modo.

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

If you mean the $1000 program, I think I'll just deal with the Poser issues. :)

You understood me then. Hehehe.

'Get Modo' - Magnificent irrelelavance that does not answer the question. To the op's point - you can't. Rendering finishes the image -puts in some lighting effects and shadows that the preview does not do. So, never mind the more expensive programmes Experience tells you what to expect from the firefly render.

Apple_UK, Thanks. That what I figured but not being all that experienced with Poser I thought I might as well ask.

Thanks for being the voice of reason.

Ha Apple_UK you're humorless. My answer was funny, and made exactly the same point, and answered the question perfectly, with a minimum of time spent.

I'm sick and tired of posting thousands of answers to questions and occasionally some 400 poster complains about my style.

Did you know it is a TOS violation to complain about communication style? Hmmm?

Did you know it's also really obnoxious to complain that you don't like the answers I give to somebody else who clearly understood me immediately?

Bah.

Thanks - you've made me annoyed with Rendo again. I was going to post more info on tile floors, which people are very anxious to learn of, but between you and Vintorix, you can all just go figure this lore out yourself. I'm gonna take me a little forum break.

Perhaps the problem is that some people can't tell if you're joking/being sarcastic/anything else. Just like the post I'm quoting, I have no idea if you're making a joke or being serious.

When you are a giant in your field it is hard not to look down on lesser people, BB. It is hard no to become impatient with the naieve and it is a mark of our greatness that we do not. BB, you are a great man in the world of Poser so be magnimous and don't be facetious. Mind you, even if you are I will still buy Poser 9 :)

edit- and tile floors are easy

when users are joking, they use smilies and laugh symbols, in an attempt to overcome one problem involved in communicating via text: "blunting of affect". it's like the old saying: "creativity dies when they have to censor their own speech". if bill or the other experts have to become too careful with their words, what may be the result?

Apple_UK ( ) posted Thu, 23 June 2011 at 4:13 PM

Miss Nancy, when one is not careful with thier words the only road ahead is ignorance of the message because pople don't listen to nonsense.

Hence the major flaw in "texting" and forum communication.... I don't know how many times I have cried over a text or post because I had taken it the wrong way. This is the main reason I hate these forms of communication in general. That is a big reason I've been a member here for 9 years and haven't had too much to post.

I prefer talking.. there is less of a chance of mistaking a persons intent. Between body language or voice inflection, you pretty much know were a person stands and their meaning.

I for one have noticed a pettyness that seems to have infiltrated into this and other forums lately. I'm not mentioning names but reading posts from people who were once amusing and witty, have turned sour and abusive, has really put a damper on my spirits.

Rendo is always where I head as soon as I turn on my machine. I really loved the way everyone was ready to help or to cheer up someones day, but those days seemed to have passed. That is too sad to comprehend.:crying:

Ps: Those words are not directed to BB, as I have been following the posts he was refering to and I believe he was in the right.

KimberlyC ( ) posted Thu, 23 June 2011 at 11:48 PM

I did not see anything wrong with what BB said.

If anyone has a problem with a member please contact the staff instead of attacking in the forum.

Yikes!  Even our most neighborly of folk seem a tad edgy tonight.

Wow, talk about lack of sense of humor. Also, if I ask "how can you do X with and somebody replies "get ", I instantly understand that you can't do it in Program1. Don't you? Op did.

Cheese and crackers, BB's reply was fine. Some people just have a problem with him that any attempt he makes to help out is seen in a negative light no matter how he puts it.

Nothing wrong with BB's irreverant irrelivant response.  And I can understand some of what he is saying.  Here and at the DAZ forums you often get a continual reoccurence of certain themes.

With the DOW tanking nearly everyday for the past ten days, RW business has been on the edgy side.  I don't know about anyone else but we've been walking on eggshells for the past two weeks.  I'd imagine it pretty much the same for BB.
