Hello,

Am looking to make a V4 custom character and wanted some ideas from people here at renderosity seeing as i will be sellin it here.. I have my own ideas for this character but would like some more on it..

Everyone has their own ideas about what sells, but since you asked I'll make one suggestion. Try to get an original looking face in the market place. There seem to be more real looking faces for M4 than V4 even though she has been out longer. Find a model or celebrity you like and spend about a week (yes a week) trying to get something like her out of your own morphs. Sink her cheeks, give her a chin dimple or a hook nose, just something more than the "There, I spun three dials in her morph package so pay me for it" look. I think those figures roll in and out of the marketplace with little attention anymore. After that get some kind of inventive skin shading package on the texture like bagginsbill's VSS that will really make the figure pop.

Good luck

You might also search in this forum under his name (bagginsbill) and VSS. He's posted a lot of useful info on shaders here.

There are a lot of Pin-Up  look a likes. (almost all of them are anorexic.)

The trick to sell is find the O :-) in the market place.

Look around, an average woman, the one you see a the grocery store, the one that gave you that special smile.

Same for clothing.

Who makes everyday clothing????

Another market open for the taker.

I wouldn't buy a character that had only fantasy skintone, ears or makeup. Make sure to provide natural options as well. A "for sale" should be versatile. An idea may be to also add wrinkle displacement maps to enable the user to age the character.

Looking at the "beauties" of the distant past to the recent past can give you great ideas.  Beautiful but not cookie-cutter cute.  From Gretta Garbo and Mae West to Sophia Loren, Ann Margrett, Rachel Welch  ... to Meryl Streep, Lisa Kudro (sp) and Julia Roberts.  All beautiful ... all individual characters.  Just a suggestion.

There is no need to attache a link just to upload an image.  Use the Attach a File: feature towards the bottom to add an image to your post.
