Wondering what it's like in Sydney in August...hot, cool?

Cold. Colder than here in Queensland, even though it tends to get windy (Ekka winds).

@PhilC: mate!, that's totally clever... how the heck did you do that???

Well OK, perhaps they deserve to know the trick. As Australians stand with their feet pointing up towards us normal people in the Nothern hemisphere, and their heads pointing down, all the servers in Australia are set to automatically invert any text so that it is the correct way up for Australians to read it. So the trick is simple. Just route the text through an Australian server before posting it.

I'm standing on my head to write this:

Brisbane is currently wet and it's our coldest day for years.

14 C. at 1: 50. PM!!

Now that is cold for here.

And Les..Whats in that cigarette?

By the smile you have, it must be working.  :)

We had frost here in South Brisbane last week at 5 in the morning, when I go for my power-walks (training for bridge-to-Brisbane!). It can get a bit nippy here in the wee hours but the days are generally pretty nice, except when it rains. But when it rains, the nights aren't as cold, either, so I prefer the rain.

It's a traditional blend made for me by an old Iowa Pakistani.

Sounds like you take your card games very seriously in Brisbane!

It's carrying that table in a high wind over the river that's going to be the challenge, Les... hills don't bother me: losing a hand does.

Yep, it was freezing in Melbourne this morning.

Strictly speaking I am not an Aussie, but a Dutchie, still I find it rather cold lately.....

RobynsVeil ( ) posted Sat, 16 July 2011 at 1:29 AM

Melbourne is shocking for wind, I reckon... we were out at St Kilda last October (end of winter) and my goodness, I thought our apartment was going to be blown into the hills!

I've been to Australia if that counts! It's true, their toilet, bath and sink drains all swirl backwards!

15? I'd love that. It's like 32 here feeling like 40. (of couse I'm in the US and all these numbers sound cold to me. Farenheit translations are 59, 90 and 104 respectively )

@Avanz

Amsterdam (nearby) speaking here. It's mid summer, 15C and pooring rain. Within half a year it will be winter. 15C and pooring rains again (or... still). Who cares. Can anyone out there give global heating a kickstart?

Usually I'm wrong. But to be effective and efficient, I don't need to be correct or accurate.

visit www.aRtBeeWeb.nl (works) or Missing Manuals (tutorials & reviews) - both need an update though

OOh, Please don't mention global warming like that to our Prime Minister..

You'd be put away in one of the "Greenie's"  prisons !!

She's very nasty about stuff like that.

AVANZ ( ) posted Wed, 03 August 2011 at 5:06 AM

@Artbee,

Heh, heh, yeah, tell me about it. I lived there for 40 years. That's one thing I won't miss, "regen in het koude kikkerlandje" (rain in a small and cold frog land ;-).

On the other hand, I do miss the amazing skies, het frietje met, stroopwavels, echte kaas and a bit more culture, and I am not talking about sports here.....

Northern wind today, 21* C, not bad for a Northern hemisphere beginning of March equivelant!
