I would thank them for their comments and let them know it is a Bryce render... This fight or competition between Apps is as old as the softwares themselves.. I find it a bit childish.. Brice is my render App... Just my preference.. Besides, it is their forum and could say what they want as long as there are no TOS broken...
Hope it helped..
Tom

Doesn't matter how it was made or with what tools, if its good its good. A little advice to all, when it comes to art do what you see in your mind, don't try to impress all the time its your release to feel good, don't take criticle posts and comments to heart. I myself use every tool available at my disposal to get things done so that's about that. don't ever let some one bring you down and don't let some one swell your head either, just create :-)
Do atleast one thing a day that scares the hell outta ya!!
Funny I turned down a job for Microsoft back in like 1999, this guy called me outta nowhere and wanted me to come to redmond wa to do environments for military simulators, I said nahhh I'm kinda busy at the moment(which I was with 3 clients) now in hindsite I'm like "DOHHHHHH" I coulda been a millionaire by now LOL!!! But the moral of the story is... I was using nothing else but Bryce.

I love when people see one of my better images and ask, "What program did you do this in?" I tell them it was done in Bryce and sometimes I'll get an incredulous response, and I tell them, "Sorry. But there it is. I can show you a screenshot if you want."
Just like a very well known Poser character I have. People will ask me what figure I used to make him and I answer, "Michael 2". I laugh when they answer, "Impossible. No way."
Sorry, but there he is.
Well it boils down to...your imagination, kinda like fixing a car sort of, I may not have the right tools at the time, but its time to get creative and improvise. All the stuff you see in movies isn't done by one application its done by many, I and 2 others almost got to work on Lord of the rings 2 with WETA to teach the visual effects guys how to use Mojoworld for back drop images, but they were to far into post production so it was cancelled.:-(

not a Bryce wizard so much as some of you folks but am a dab hand at TG2 and when it came out I took the challenge and copied a Vue render in TG2 that 'fooled' a lotta Vue-ers, but that was a dare from some members of that forum/gallery when I was filling in when agiel left...don't have that any more as all those files were in my stolen computers/external drives..sigh...always something reminding me about the theft....it never ends the sense of violation.. ...

I wouldn't bother. No matter how hard you try there'll always be some snob slagging off your work. No amount of visual evidence is gonna convince them.

Going to be an old stick-in-the-mud here and say, "Create to please yourself," unless you are doing work for a client.
In my book, it doesn't matter what someone else thinks unless you're getting paid.
And to get myself back closer to the original topic. although I adore Bryce I think of it as one brush in my paintbox, but not the only one.

Yup tjohn, i've seen real rough drafts from rembrandt in a museum and my art teacher asked me what I thought, I said it looks like a kid did it with crayons LOL!!! He said, umm that's Rembrandt I said soooo what. You can't please everyone basically so as an artist you can't take critiques to heart.

Clay. your remark about "kid with crayons" reminded me of one of my oldies. Here's a link if anyone's interested. This is not my "second childhood". I'm not finished with the first one yet.

I think the problem is that critics are just that - critics. They create nothing and live to suck life out of your work.

they can understad art intellectually and 'by the rules' which is what they 'teach', and in most cases that's what I got......the rules I needed to actually make art, heh heh heh...same with music school teachers...it's much better to jam with actual players and learn better.. ...

Supposing that a Bryce artist, tired of hearing how good a competing software was on another gallery decided to post an image done in Bryce on the competing gallery just to see how long it would take those erudite persons to recognize it for a ringer. Suppose that none of those on the other gallery picked up on it and instead found it just wonderful, gave it a great rating and favorited it. What would you do? Remember this is all hypothetical, wink!
