For the people NOT using PP (like me) it might be helpful to know that you can convert jpgs to BUMs in Poser. Just load a simple prop (the cube or something) and apply the jpg as the bump map in the 'materials' settings. Poser will then alert you that this is not a BUM and ask you if you want to convert it now.

Unfortunately, it is not. The BUM conversion is some sort of weird emboss effect, and there is no trivial way (like channel operations) to reverse it. I wrote a filter called "GreyBump" for GraphicConverter which performs exactly this (BUM back to greyscale) with some minor loss of quality, but unfortunately it is currently Mac-only. I'm considering possibilities to eventually port the feature to PC, but I can't promise you anything in the *very* near future, I'm afraid...This site uses cookies to deliver the best experience. How do I convert image files (jpg, bmp...ect) to bum (.bum) files? Thanks.
