Last chance upgrade to vue 9 studio for 55 bucks, what bloody planet are these weirdos living on.
Yea right im going to upgrade from bugged vue 8 still with all its fault's to bugged vue 9 which like previous versions they wont support.
Just so they can sell vue 10 another bugged version that wont run on lot's peoples computers.
Ya got to love the way Americans act, the idiot gaming software houses thought yea yank gamers will keep spending 2000 or more bucks every 6 months to play latest games.
Oh dear yank gamers learn their lesson said stuff you we will use consoles online for gaming and other type games.
software game houses cut their throats and seems 3D art software houses following suit.

I don't see an option to cheaply update from V8I 8(

Infinite users just renew their subscriptions, I think.

Well, that was a rather...disjointed rant.

One correction, though. It wasn't the software houses that did anything. It was the holding companies (ie: the Wall St schmucks) who have done the damage to gaming, and destroyed a couple dozen of successful companies in the process, in the name of the almighty dollar. And considering how loudly the game companies are howling at the console makers for forcing them to use 5-6 year old hardware that is in every way, shape, and form inferior, well..... Oh, and don't believe the console rhetoric; the truth is that the PC is still the most used platform, judged against any -one- platform. And since =none= of the console platforms are compatible, you have to judge one against one; not many against one.

And since I know of no company that actually supports previous versions..... (shrug).

Keep an eye open, Gareee. There should be something closer to release; it may not be as cheap as some would like, but it should be there. A nice starter rate for the maintenance contract, if nothing else..........

Both 9 and 9.5 worked great for me on my very old 32-bit system.  Best versions of Vue Infinite ever.  But I'm using Poser 6 with them, and imported OBJ models I create in other apps.  I don't buy models that might cause problems with Vue.  I just stick to buying plant objects and rock textures.

In 30 days we'll know about Vue 10, which will be "free" for a lot of people that bought 9.5 already.

V8I was bought outright, not a subscription, so I couldn't just renew it to V9I.

I don't use it enough to really justify the full retail price, but if there's a discounted update offer, I might consider it.

Anyone know if they have an update deal for v8I to v9I?

Hello,

I have Vue 8 Complete (no subscription) and just bought Poser Pro 2012. I didn't upgrade to Vue 9 due to the cost. With the current offer (50% off), and reading a post in the Eon forums for confirmed interoperability of Poser Pro 2012 and Vue 9 (http://www.cornucopia3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13638), I'm tempted to do that upgrade now.

They offer this subscription as well. As far as I understand, it won't get me Vue 10 for free (as I would normally think with a "subscription"), but only at 50% off (which it will be anyway before Vue 11 comes out).  Does anyone know, if the subscription would still be worth it? Does it cover 2 upgrades, if I'm lucky and Vue 11 is out early enough?

Best regards,

   Michael

Eon's been that way ever since their so called professional & infinite line came out years ago.  E-on has bugs that are 10 years old that are never fixed in any update or upgrade.  The Maintenance Scam was biggest kick in the face that I've seen in years by a software company.

Just got an email back on my question about upgrading V8I to something current:

"Our current sale is for Artist versions only - Esprit, Studio and Complete. Infinite is not included in this sale. Sorry"

So I guess since I'm an artist, BUT opted for the more expensive version, I'm SOL.

Would it be worth updating V8I to V9complete? isn't that the highest level before the pro stuff?

Hello,

Vue Complete is the most complete Artist edition.   Please check when sidegrading from infinity to complete, if you can still use your plants. I read in some post that there might be issues with that.

I'm interested in upgrading because 9 should support the Poser 8 scaling and have less flicker for animations.

Best regards,

    Michael

Gareee ( ) posted Fri, 23 September 2011 at 3:27 PM

I haven't bought much new for V8I, so I should be good, I'd think. I'm awaiting a eply back asking about an upgrade from V8I to V9complete.

I can't believe that a customer who paid more for any V8xxx version couldn't upgrade somehow to V9complete.

If they give me no sale upgrade option, I'm done with them.

Well I was glad to get the email and bought the $55 upgrade from 8 Studio Pro to 9 Studio Pro. I will wait just as long as it takes for 10 Studio Pro to be this cheap before I upgrade again.

Looks like I do have a upgrade path...

I got another response back:

"You can upgrade from Vue 8 Infinite to 9 Complete for $99. That is available in the Store. "

Does that sound like a worthwhile deal?

(The upgrade from Vue8 complete is only $74.)

Hi Gareee,

oh you not only have an upgrade, you get a sidegrade for this price, means you have the old license plus the new one and could later still upgrade C8I to V9I or V10I!

Best regards,

   Michael

Gareee ( ) posted Sat, 24 September 2011 at 6:21 AM

Hmmm... I could then sell of the old full V8I then, and just lie with the new V9complete instead. That might be very worthwhile then.

I figured the new license would cancel out the old one. Since I'm not doing pro commercial work, I think V8I was probably overkill on my part, but I didn't want to be missing out on any features.

No thats incorrect Micheal, I know as I used to have infinite, if you go to 9 Complete, you wont be able to upgrade your 8I version to 9I or 10I.

Basically e-on will say that you used your "upgrade" privelages to go to 9 complete, therefore 8I is unupgradeable as you already used it.

I would think about it Gareee, once you go to complete like I did it will cost a lot to go back to infinite. I would like at the comparison sheet and see if there is anything in inifinite you really need, if so try to go upgrade to infinite, if not go with complete.

But either way once that upgrade is used your either stuck on infinite or complete.

Thanks for that info. Honestly, I don't more than 30 total renders with V81, although I have done lots of playing around.

I wonder how much I could resell unupgradable boxed v8I for on ebay? That might recoup the upgrade costs, at least.

Is the serial registered in your name? Or is it unregistered, not sure if you can transfer the licence if it is already registered mate, but you will need to check with e-on on that.

Hello,

I admit, that this statement was made based on my assumption. This was based on EON using two different words on their web page: "upgrade" for V8C to V9C at 99 $, and "sidegrade" for V8I to V9C, also for 99 $.

Smith Micro has used these words in a similar way. When they introduced  P8 and Poserpro 2010 was not yet ready, they offered this "sidegrade", that people could get P8 and play with indirect lighting, and got the Poser Pro => Poser Pro 2010 upgrade later at a very small price. So I ended up with a P8 license plus a Poser Pro 2010 license some time later then. When Poser Pro 2012 was offered earlier this month, I used the P8 license to upgrade to PoserPro 2012, which was only 30 $ more than Poser Pro 2010 to 2012.   Now I have a Pro license for both of my machines.

Best regards,

     Michael

Yeah indeed the wording is very ambigious. Not sure about the spelling of that lol.

But yeah have been down that road myself, once you upgrade/sidegrade anything, that upgrade/sidegrade is then classed as used and you cannot use it again :(

Yeah huge difference between the PUBLISHERS and associated shmucks who've destroyed many gaming studios, and the studios themselves

Troika, Westwood, Bullfrog etc destroyed by the greedy idiocy of the big publishers hwo have them by the balls :/

Vue9 isn't bugged, you don't have it so don't know what yer talking about.

And as much as I LOATHE the Power Elite/crap at the top that's been worsening the USA for last 30 years And us in the UK too)..."Yanks" arne't bad folks (generally very nice and great to get on with, fyi), but scum at the top, lunacy they do vs the Ordinary Joes are two different things.

More pwerful a nation gets, bigger it gets, worse the Power Elite get, inevitable, thing is the Founders knew such risks and tried setting it up as ethically as they could, massive achievement in Human history...but even that couldn't stop the corruption/idiocy from such vast wealth rotting/subverting everything.

Scumbags have no race, creed, colour or country, they care only for themselves.
