Well, I'm partway there, and this is a useable version for starters... ...oh, those dreaded WIP Download at: (does this mean I'm still too shy to post in Free Stuff? Oh, probably.)

I love this tutorial! Thanks.

Nice tutorial, but Daz may have a problem with the download, since the OBJ is probably embedded in the CR2. Contact them about it to be sure. -Jeff

Oh, dear. Well, I thought for sure the figure reference lines meant that the object itself was not in the cr2...or why would there even need to be a reference to an object file located elsewhere? Or so was my thinking. I will surely ask the DAZ folks, though. Thanks for noting this. Such a large distance from making your own stuff to use and getting to where you can share it with others. I suppose the Mover system would be the next way to go.

JeffH ( ) posted Wed, 22 August 2001 at 4:26 PM

It uses the Mike OBJ reference for the head, hands and feet. The rest of the body is stored in the CR2. I'm sure people can do this for themselves with the tutorial alone for now.

Wouldn't ya know. The one portion of the model I'm using is the portion not referenced. Okie, dokie...removed the link and I'll either repost with UV remapper or with the objaction mover method. Thanks for the heads up. The tutorial is more for how to put on clothes. It really doesn't address how to modify the object. Who knew how much of a bother this would be? I have acquired a keen appreciation for Poser Meisters who do this all the time. It's way more work than one would think. eng

iM MISSING THE POint what did you do to the mike suit?

Mesh_Magick ( ) posted Wed, 22 August 2001 at 11:15 PM

Is this a new Mike suit or the existing one?

ENGELKEN ( ) posted Wed, 22 August 2001 at 11:24 PM

Nope. This is a suit I made from modifying the Millennium Man obj, with the intent of giving it free to those who wanted to work with it to develop a more extensive wardrobe for Master Mike. And because I could not find a free one anywhere, though there are several very good ones for sale. eng

Mesh_Magick ( ) posted Wed, 22 August 2001 at 11:38 PM

Hmm Might run into a problem with DAZ on that one, It competes with one of their products, By giving it away free they may lose customer interest in the one they are selling in their Mike clothing pack because they can have yours for free. They might let you sell it, But that's a long shot too. Then you could OOPS and release it and wait for DAZ to send you complaint and a request to remove it from the Internet. If not then maybe they don't have a problem with it if you can prove that it is not the one they are selling. I think lots of people oops and dont even realize when they make a model from daz geometry's.

Mesh_Magick ( ) posted Wed, 22 August 2001 at 11:39 PM

Oh don't listen to me, YOu my get into oops and get sued.

great :o)

bloodsong ( ) posted Thu, 23 August 2001 at 4:49 PM

heyas; engel, why do you have turning off the ik and zeroing the figure in your steps? you dont normally have to go through all that just to conform clothing to a figure.

Ironbear ( ) posted Thu, 23 August 2001 at 6:46 PM

Cool. We need Mike clothing.

Bloodsong, I ALWAYS have to turn off the IK... otherwise the shoes and socks will fly up into the crotch as soon as the character is posed. The default ought to be "off". Eng, Thanks for the catsuit, and getting it ok'd so we could use it. :) Carolly

bloodsong ( ) posted Fri, 24 August 2001 at 5:51 PM

oh, is THAT why the shoes go there!? well, but still, you shouldn't have to press the zero figure button. :)
