For those following progress of this at daz and here in the deathstar thread, I'm pleased to say my haunted house freebie model is now done!

Just waiting to get the correct URL from the nice folks at Dreamslayer for their contest, then I'll post a link so everyone can get it. I know some folks don't like having to sign up for things, or doing contests, so after the contest is over I'll be adding this to my freestuff at Sparkyworld.

But until then I'm going to be a big blue meanie <evil sparky laugh :)> and tease you with some piccys and a description....

Inspired by the old classic MB board game, here be a model of a Haunted House with 4 rooms and loads of accessories.

The model can be loaded either fully populated with stacks of (non moveable) accessories. Or it can be loaded as empty rooms, which you can furnish with other models, or with any of the 13 fun accessories (as shown below) that are included with the freebie.

Bath
Bed
Witches Bog
BookCase
Chair

GrandFatherClock
Hearth,
KitchenTable
PictureFrame
Pumpkin

RockerChair
ShelfIUnit
Walltable

Plus whats really neat is the model has been created with "layered" walls and floors. Instead of the traditional approach...one wall with a texture map. Each floor and wall consists of a minimum of two parts. An inner modelled base layer and a modelled layer such as plaster or woodwork on top. In the bathroom 3 layers are used base, brick and plaster.

This modelled layering approach means that details, such as depth of cracks, are not dependant on bump or displacement maps. Which can give a better effect when app specfic shaders are used. Plus because more material zones are employed, smaller maps can be used which can sometimes be more memory efficent.

BTW ..I know the bog isn't that great, but hey it's a freebie!

What a brilliant idea - I mean, about having the "rooms" arranged that way. Like 4 movie sets in one! Nice work, MrSparky. 😄

Agreed.  This should be fun once it is finally released.

That looks spooktacular!

Thanks! But the idea here isn't mine thats how the board game is. Though I have used a similar approach before on the sci-fi room set I made for Poser 7. Not sure if this is included with Poser 9 or not.

I hope it is, as I think I might've made some parts with a seperate "light" material. Often do that so I can use Vue's "lighting" materials. Which with P9's new ambient light/material feature would look pretty darn cool.

Agreed.  This should be fun once it is finally released.

Yep. Just discussing with the nice folks now, it might take a few days as we're on opposite sides of the globe. But I guess it won't be long.

Great!!!! I've been wanting to do a ghost hunter scenario. This will work nicely. Thank you.

That is super-cool.   It looks like a board game we had as kids, called Which Witch.  (Which I always used to lose, actually.  Hmm.  Stupid little brothers, always winning everything.  Grumble.)

Cage can be an opinionated jerk who posts without thinking.  He apologizes for this.  He's honestly not trying to be a turkeyhead.

Cage had some freebies, compatible with Poser 11 and below.  His Python scripts were saved at archive.org, along with the rest of the Morphography site, where they were hosted.

Nice set :)

The picture frame is a good indication of your political leanings. Not including Norman T as one of the undead? (Is Norman coming out to play? Only if he's back by daybreak- (C) 1980s Spitting Image)

Recreatine board games in 3D is a neat idea. A real challenge would be to do an animated 3D version of an old favorite, Mousetrap :-)

Only for those who deserve it :)

Not including Norman T as one of the undead? ...
Nah, on a personal level he's actually a nice guy. Especially when he's talking about planes (he's an ex-pilot).

Maggie though, meet her and you can feel a genuine malevolence. So much so theres a myth amongst some snappers, that their gear has failed when trying to get a shot of her!

As for Cameron and his playmates, well my feelings there would soon get this thread deleted :)

Recreatine board games in 3D is a neat idea.

Thats a cool idea! Would be easyish as well, as you could scan the board. Though you'd have to be carefull of IP issues as the board designs (especially monopoly) are often carefully protected. Plus you'd have to have a non commerical license in a poser version which some folks don't like very much.

Here is OK as the game has inspired the model and the final model is a different design.

A real challenge would be to do an animated 3D version of an old favorite,
yep, especially the animation part. Though the modelling probably wouldn't be too difficult.

Mousetrap :-)
Now theres a great classic game!
