Subject: Scrolling Problem with Poser Pro 2012 Library

nabob21 ( ) posted Sun, 02 October 2011 at 10:40 AM · edited Thu, 16 January 2025 at 1:52 AM

Hello,

I have just moved up to Poser Pro 2012, and have found that I cannot use the scroll wheel on my mouse in the library window. I have tried both the 64 Bit and 32 Bit versions and have the same issue in both versions. Scrolling will work in all of the other windows, just not the library windows.

I have made sure that I have the most current versions of Adobe AIR and Flash, as well as Windows Explorer and FireFox (my default browser).

I am using a Dell XPS laptop with 64 Bit Windows 7 and 12 GB of Ram.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

You're lucky, I got it to work once in the library but not in any other area.

Windows default wheel events usually cause a movement of three lines or items per click. Some mouse drivers are configurable and try to trick programs by reporting fractions of a click. The idea is that if the program is multiplying clicks by three, then delivering a click that is one third times three will produce a scroll of just one row. Well, that does not work right. Do you have a super smart mouse? If so, trade it for a dumb one. The library handles slow or fast clicking differently and cannot detect fractional click at all.

I'm using a logitech wheel mouse that has a thumb ball.  My wheel scrolls through the library only after I open one of the runtimes.  It does not work until at least one of the arrows in the library is pointing down and you have clicked on and highlighted the line with the arrow pointing down.

TW: Are you only displaying the tree? Is that on purpose? Do you know about the display options?

Do you click on the library window? Scroll events only go to the window with focus. Once the window has the focus, you can scroll different parts of the library simply by hovering over them. If you only have one part of the library showing (the tree) you should read the manual and learn about the other displays.

Hi bagginsbill,

I am using just a basic Microsoft wheel mouse, nothing too fancy. I do click in the library window, but again to no effect. I have tried clicking on another window, such as the parameters window, and using the scroll wheel , and then switching to the library window, but the scrolling only works in windows other than the library window. I am currently only using the tree display so I will give the other library displays a try as well.

Thanks for your help.

That's odd. I had troubles with Mac mouse wheel and worked on that a lot in this release, but not with Windows.

Are you using the embedded (Flash) library GUI or the external (AIR) one?

Whichever you are using, try the other one.

I am currently using the 64 bit version so I am using the external library. For 64 bit I think that is the only option if I understand correctly. I will try the 32 bit version again to see if it works with the docked library. I tried it with the floating library with the same result.

There is now a 64-bit Flash player in release candidate - Flash 11.

http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer11.html

PP2012 x64 can use that.

Thanks bagginsbill, I will download the Flash Player update.

By the way, I currently only have intermittent internet access at the moment due to work so my responses to forum posts may be delayed. I appreciate the help I am getting though.
