Displacement Maps.
Are 16/32bit depth maps supported yet?
Has there been any updates to the Displacment channel?

16 bit displacement has been supported for a while through the TIFF format. I think maybe Targa also. I know for a fact 16bit works because I'm the one at the office that begged for it. Sadly I should have been more specific, as PSD's that are 16 bit never seem to load. lol. Anyway, use TIFF, it should get the job done.

Edit: 32bit is still not supported as far as I'm aware.

Seriously - 16bit works as TIFFs?! Whoa...I had no idea! I don't think I bothered with that format as I figured it'd never work in Poser since the PSDs did not work.

Good to know! Does this mean also mean the Displacement chanel can be set at "1" instead of the default "0.0833333"? I mean, I'm still - and I advise everyone to - dialing my own values in and render-testing until the desired result is achieved.

Now to go back to Zbrush and reproduce all these displacement maps!

Only if you use inches rather than feet as the display units.

You can set the displacement channel value to any value you like. The starting value is 0.083 because you set Poser's units to feet. The displacement value is given in your choosen unit, the default value is 1 inch.

Thanks a million! I can't believe my stupid Poser 6 manual never mentioned this! None of my Poser books mention this.

Im in Poser 8 right now. Still saving for Poser 9.

16 bit color depth means none of that stair-stepping you get from 8bit JPEGs! Woot!
