Subject: Daily Digest/Site Notifications vs EBOT

DennisReed ( ) posted Wed, 12 October 2011 at 1:49 AM · edited Sun, 29 December 2024 at 5:11 AM

I am saddened by Renderosity's move to go in this direction, without even looking into how the community might react (What's New!).  My 1st impression is "This SUCKS!". After using it for the last 2 Hours that impression has not changed.

Things that should be addressed with this new Process:

No Sort Order! I always delt with my email ebots by Oldest 1st, and was able to delete them as I prosessed them. This function cannot be done with this new method, and now I have to sort through what I have already responed to! Altough I can use the "Right Click - Open in new Tab" I don't always remember to do that, and then have to use "Older Post" 3 times to get to posts I still need to respond to.

Ebots came in as the posts were made. It looks to me as if we only will be notified once a day, and that the "Daily Digest" will only be updated once a day. So between times, if I had time to respond to new posts, I won't be able to. I have a huge count of Favorite Artists, and I usually get 35-70 ebots a day. So being able to respond to ebots, on my scedule, was a Plus for Using Renderosity as my Gallery Provider. You have now made Deviantart an equal! Oh wait a minute, Deviantart does update its Notifications as the posts are made.

Hi Dennis,

We are discussing all the feedback so please be patient while we work through this.

Thank you

Stacey

DennisReed ( ) posted Wed, 12 October 2011 at 1:32 PM

Thanks Stacey, I see that the notifications are being updated as posts are being made, although I still have to pop in to see that. It does appear Renderosity is making attempts to hone the process. It would be great if the notifications were deletable as that would make it just like Deviantart. Again Sort option oldest 1st would be nice.

One thing I will never have which I use to be able to do with ebots: I was able to save the ebots related to my posts so I could thank them later. ;)

Someone just told me that if I Uncheck Notifications, it will resort back to ebots????? I'm off to try that.

StaceyG ( ) posted Wed, 12 October 2011 at 1:53 PM

That isn't true Dennis. If you uncheck the notifications for the email digest you won't get any emails about them at all.  We are looking into things that might be a good compromise for everyone:)

RodS ( ) posted Wed, 12 October 2011 at 7:15 PM

Frankly, I am so discouraged by all the (negative IMHO) changes that I am at a loss for words...... That's a rarity for me. I can only add that I am on board 100% with Dennis.

The daily digest would be an almost acceptable compromise, but - on only the second day of implementation - I have yet to recieve mine.

To echo what Dennins said above, the ebot system worked perfectly for me. I have a crushingly busy schedule, and frankly Rendo is a big part of my relaxation - or at least it was before all these changes. Having to repeatedly check the notifications is a real pain. Then, when I come back to it, half the notifications are gone, so I have to click the "Older Items" button to see them again. It's a real pain in the ### as far as I'm concerned.

I don't know if it matters at all to your administration, but members are beginning to leave in considerable numbers. I have many friends on Rendo that have already called it quits - not neccesarily just because of this recent change, but because Admin seems to be both blind and deaf when it comes to how the community feels. And that's a community that spends a pretty good chunk of change in your marketplace, I might add.

I do not plan on leaving; at least not right now. I am hoping that your Admin will take a good long look at the feedback from your  community (and I say YOUR community in all sincerity), and act upon it - act like your community matters to you.

The daily digest is a joke, today's news tomorrow, the notification logging is fine if you're here all the time but most people are not. You could link from an Ebot immeditely from anywhere you were when you got the mail, comment/fav whatever and be back to whatever you were doing when you got it. As far as I'm concerned staying current is important, being a day behind is definitely Not staying current and having to come here 20 times a Day to check things isn't in the Cards.

Ditto Dennis and Lenord!

Compared to the e-mails, that new notification system is not userfriendly, very uncomfortable, much too slow, totally unmanageable(!!) and thus a considerable needless waste of my time, which I could spend much better in the forums or galleries instead.

I´d really like to have the old e-mail system available again. (Optional -- for those few members who actually prefer that new system.)

In reviewing of all the feedback regarding the site notification email system, we've reintroduced gallery ebots and we will be looking at incorporating customizable options on the site notification page.

Hi Stacey,

thanks for the good news!! :)

I really appreciate that decision and the according efforts, as much as the old ebot e-mail system!

Thank you so very much for returning the ebots to us. you don't realize what a pleasure it was to see my inbox with mail saying 'Renderosity galleries'

Thank you so very much for returning my ebots!  I know some folks liked the digest/site notification, and for them, I hope they have a choice. But me, I'm thrilled to death to see all those ebots in my mail!

So thank you for not just hearing us, but for giving us back our ebots. Very refreshing when a company listens and responds to their customers complaints. And so quickly too :)

I want to add my thanks to this.  If there were a way to remove posts from the list you had going, that might be a viable thing for me, but as is, it wasn't a workable solution to keep up.  And I so missed reading comments someone left when they favorited a piece of mine.

I hope this opens the door to more changes and compromises to make the site the best it can be.  :)

I sure am glad to have the ebots back. :)

Hopefully that will be always an option...

Thank you all for taking the time to give us your feedback and for taking the time to show your thanks, it means alot

Cimaira ( ) posted Thu, 13 October 2011 at 6:31 PM

Well, I always felt that  if I complained and someone responded, the least I could do is come back and say Thank you !

It has been a good day on the Renderosity site :)

T.P. hearby asks that DennisReed be named 'member advisory person' to all upcoming changes being 'discussed' and 'proposed' to the WONDERFUL (NON sarcasm) Renderosity site.

Dennis is a MOST respected and LONG time member of the Renderosity Community.

It also appears that when 'he' talks, the staff listens and responds compared to when many others say the same things prior.

DennisReed ( ) posted Sat, 15 October 2011 at 1:40 PM

LOL! My past history with Renderosity will disprove that TP! I'll decline your proposal, and chalk it up to Renderosity making a good decision to bring back the Ebots. ;)

Maharid ( ) posted Mon, 17 October 2011 at 10:14 AM

I really like daily digest but i don't fint where i can enable it, i got only one containing all the new image from my favorite artist of the previous day and after that the normal single mail.

I think alot of user will like to get the email sorted by artist or date but an option to turn the digest on and off in "My Profile" can be really good.

Lucie ( ) posted Mon, 17 October 2011 at 11:56 AM

I got the daily digest thingie unchecked but I keep receiving them by email anyway, is that normal?

I hate the new look. Hate the all on one and hate the other links to other sites that is nothing but spam for those sites.
