I have been resisting buying Miki 2 until now. I reconsidered because (as always) I need more ethnic diversity in my Poser figures for a work project. I found that Miki 2, and also all the G2 figures that are sold separately, represent a real bargain for Poser users who may want to reduce their dependency on Victoria and Michael. Miki 2 comes with 3 sets of clothes, and the extra face morphs from RDNA for her and all the G2 figures are ridiculously cheap now. At Content Paradise and RDNA there are some real bargains to be had on character packs for Miki 2 if you look around. Plus I find that I already have Wardrobe Wizard support for her, and she works in the face room. Very nice.

Cool. So, she'll be the next one I create a BB Post-240 shader for. Always looking for new challenges... - you are of course aware that Miki3 is out?

Miki 3 is of course also on the wishlist, but for some time in the future. Perhaps I am behind the times, but this is just such a good deal. I bought the Miki 2 figure and several characters, plus the morph packs all at once, and I have several changes of office clothing for her, and I didn't break the bank. Lots to play with for now.

Way to GO! Good on you, Nanette! I always go for generations older technology myself because 1) it will be bound to be more stable and 2) incredibly less expensive. Very wise approach!

And also, the Poserworld life membership is once again proving its value, since my Miki 2 is now a very well dressed young lady.

I just brought a skin texture for her and then realize I don't have her in my runtime... You're right about the low price for her. I just used her. Porcelain Miki 2

I am not too happy with the way she "bunches up" when she's in some poses... like when she's on the floor, squatting. It's very unsightly, you know but for everything else, clothed, she'll looks ok. Maybe I'll try the porcelain doll dressed in a business outfit. That would look rather strange, eh? There's sill life in that character yet (clothed).

Every texture set you have is potentially a porcelain doll. Get my free VSS albino shader.

For me she will be clothed, sitting at a desk, working on a computer, standing, walking, nothing extreme.

I agree about Miki 1's expressive face.  Man, I thought when she first came out it was the start of a whole new world of realistic Poser facial expressions. 

Wasn't the case.  I guess people don't particular want realism.  There were a lot of complaints that she wasn't "pretty enough."  I really liked her, though.  The DAZ ethnic morphs were useless.  You couldn't use the expression morphs with them. 

She wasnt pretty enough? i think she has the best poser face by a mile. 

I don't have those expressions anymore, but I suppose if some kind soul would someday weight map her, I'll make new ones :D

BTW, I thought Miki 1 was absolutely adorable. I guess "pretty" is in the eye of the beholder. I was pleased as punch when I first played with her face, but the horrible joints killed it for me..lol

I dream of a lot of figures I own someday being weight mapped: Vicky3 and even Vicky 1/2, Mike1/2/3, David 3 (I WANT!), Steph 3, Aiko 3, Stephanie 1, Angela, Apollo, all of Nursoda's figures, Mavka, Elle, Natalia, Dina, and yes, the Poser 4 peeps...lol. The Eve morph for Posette made her look great and so did the Claudio morph for Dork. Maybe one day (if I ever manage to get Poser Pro 2012) and if I can figure out weight mapping, I'll do it myself.

Oh, yikes. Thanks for the link, Jen... don't know if I want to pay $150 for a used copy of P6... I do have P6, but I think it wasn't the CE version. IIRC, a really nice set of wings came in that edition too.

With the RDNA ultimate morphs it is really easy to make a wide range of expressions for Miki 2 as well. Miki 2 does very well in the face room. I find the face room makes the Poser 5 figures look really ugly, but Miki still looks normal after a visit to the face room.

Other things I like about her - she is petite and youthful, with the correct body proportions for a female of short stature. She can make a very convincing teenager - no other Smith Micro figure makes a convincing teen. As Cyllan's characters at Content Paradise prove, she also makes a believeable older woman.

For those who are interested in David's remap: Illusions Designs are still selling off their V3 textures really really cheap on their "V3 going out of style" sale - and they are very nice indeed.

I'd lost my old V3 remap of Miki2, after my HD crash a year ago, but looking through my online storage, I finally found a version that seems to be the correct one.  I've tested it in my Poser Pro 2010, and the V3 textures apply OK.  I sent it to your Hotmail address at 11:10 Jerusalem Time.

Hopefully with the new life being breathed into figures with the exciting new technology offered by Poser Pro 2012 and P9, your skin texture remaps will also enjoy a revival. They are an integral part of this whole process.

Have you considered making a tutorial on this subject and perhaps selling that? John's doing quite well with his tutorials... just a thought.

Excellent remap David and thank you ever so much. The V3 mat poses load instantly and perfectly, and the texture on the face is not distorted at all - I don't much look at the other body parts, but I am sure you took care of that.

David's remaps don't work in the face room, but there is an easy workaround: Use the regular Miki 2 figure in the face room until you have the face you want, then save out the head as an obj file and load it on the remapped figure as a morph target.

I'm not sure I understand the meaning of the above.  What has Canada have to do with anything, and to what two governments are you referring to?  As far as work is concerned, I've done just about everything at one time or another, (except hire myself out as a gigalo (and yes, I once had an opportunity to do that too, except I was way too shy and flustered to accept -stupid me)).

Filing two tax returns, one Canadian and one US, would net be worth it. I'm assuming selling through something like the Renderosity marketplace. And I expect both governments would want their slice of the taxes.

I live in Israel, and don't have to worry about either the US or the Canadian governments.  Now, scud missiles from Iran landing on my house is a different story!

Hm, questions about where to find Miki 1... are you sure she's not in the legacy content? I'm gonna take a quick peek....

I don't think she would be in the legacy content since she was never a part of Poser or a Poser figure per se. Addon.

I never had Miki 1, but Miki 2's face is very expressive too. I am having lots of fun with her.

Now that PP2011 is out, I'm hoping that someone is willing to weight map Miki 1-2 and maybe the G2's aswell.

These older poser figures got rather nice faces, but the bending leaves alot to be desired.

As some of you ask for Miki 1: She was on a cd shipped with the 3Dworld magazine. I once had a customer who so much wanted to use an older character I've made for her but had no Miki 1. I found that the issue 96 of the 3DMagazine came with Miki1. It's a year ago when I found out about it, the customer was able to buy an issue of the magazine. Maybe you are lucky as well and find it somewhere (or even have it at home and did not know about Miki), even if another year is gone...

I always loved this doll, despite some weaknesses she definitly shows when posed. She's so authentic and so touching, most of all she looks good even in her native form and without any morphs used.

Oh and by the way: If you like Miki 2 you might like Olivia as well. She once was free (for Poser 7 owners? Or was it Poser 8? I don't remember anymore) - unfortunatly you have to buy her now. But I think that she is as authentic as Miki is.

Miki 1 had very possibly thebest face in Poserdom if you go by expressions. She may possibly have also had the very worst joints ;). I love her face and if her joints were fixed I'd probably use her all the time...lol. Her and Mankahoo's Angela ;)
