Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 24 6:22 pm)
Lots of work involved, would have taken twice as long if I did not sort help on how to render properly - in these forums! Nowadays I am trying to think more about what the end renders are going to look like, rather than just going on a mass render !
The biggest Problem that I had while making these animations was that I was just bunging loads of materials together and not really thinking about the rendering consequences.Anything I do in futue I am going to try and set up right the 1st time! .... Just wish I had 20 or so computers in a render farm ;-)

Yes the one thing that I like most about Poser 9 is that it will do a lot better job of Preview rendering.I do all my animation output in Preview Mode, I am doing HD video and it just takes to long even with low settings in Firefly.
I accept the quality of the image as part of the technique and design the backgrounds etc to look right with the figures.
I can output 1,000 frames in about 10 minutes even with the settings all set at the highest possible levels, as apposed to Firefly at about a minute per frame at low settings.
The truth is that there isn't a lot of difference visually between Firefly at low settings and Preview at high settings especially when you are creating the frames at 1600 by 900 or larger. But it will render the preview image about 60 times faster.
Anyway for what I'm doing it works great.
I would love to be able to render the stuff with Firefly but I just don't have the patience for that.
If you shoot a mime, do you need a silencer?
Hi
I've changed my mind, I spent the afternoon testing and I've gotten the rendering down to 100 frames in 10 minutes using Firefly with better results then the Preview Mode.
I can live with that.
That means that one of my typical 1,000 frame clips will take about an hour and a half instead of 10 minutes but I'll do that on the video I'm working on now.
Especially since I'm using fog and the preview give some real problems with that.
We'll see how it works out in about a week. I should have it done by then.

That seems high quality for a preview render! I used to use firefly and tthe poser 4 renderer back in Poser 7. Use Vue now for all poser rendering I find the quality much better and faster at rendering (unless there is a vue background, then it takes ages)
Great tip - Set render up before bed and put the settings up as far as you dare! then you can get a good 10 hours of rendertime in ;-)

I joined this forum about two years ago and did not know anything about Poser or Vue, using tips off of Renderosity has vastly improved my knowledge of these programs. Had a kid so been off the animating for a while but now hopefully back in action ;-) let me know what you think. I have been using cinema 4d recently ... great program
