Subject: What happened to poser 8?

wayneout ( ) posted Mon, 14 November 2011 at 5:07 PM · edited Mon, 09 December 2024 at 2:40 AM

Due to my money situation, I have to buy things when they go on sale.
I bought Poser 7 from Content Paradise when they had it on sale for $50.
I have to admit that I like it better than Poser 6. So, I was hoping that Poser 8
would go on sale now that Poser 9 is out. However, I cannot find it on Content
Paradise website or SmithMicro website. I find a French version and a German
version, but no English version.   When I google "Poser 8 for sale", I get a few
websites selling Poser 8 for around $50, but I have never heard of these websites.
Is it possible that Content Paradise will bring Poser 8 English version back when
they are ready to put it on sale?   I bought Poser 4 from Metacreations, Poser 5 and
6 from Curious Labs, so I would like to stick with buying from the creator.
Thanks,
Bill

MySmithMicro is, to my understanding, part and party to the company itself. They run specials from time to time... personally, I'd be shooting for PP2010, MUCH stabler and fantastic features, Bill.

Thanks for the info. I will keep watching to see if they have any deals.
And I noticed it was 64 bit too.

Purplus was one of the places that google mentioned but I had never
heard of them and didn't know if it was a good copy. (not a pirate copy)
But that is the same place that sells it on buy.com.
Thanks everyone

Purplus.net is a reputable site, I received Carrara 5 from them, came new in a sealed box.

Poser 8 is a big improvement over 7. You will be happy with it. The new library alone was worth the price of admission for me. Of course 9 and PP2012 are further improvements. If and when you have the money, you won't be sorry.

Poser8 brings the new library but it also brings IDL.

And In Direct Light was the BIG jump to realistic light from all the AO and or IBL faking before.

Thanks again for everyone's help. I ordered the Poser 8 from buy.com.
I will probably wait until after Christmas and order PP2010 from PurPlus.
Thanks,

Bill

If you're going to spend $50 on Poser 8, then another amount on PP2010, why not just spend a bit more for Poser 9 or 2012? You're going to end up getting it anyway, eventually. I believe SM has an upgrade price from P7.
