Subject: Orphan shadow cams, how to delete?

Magic_Man ( ) posted Sat, 19 November 2011 at 3:25 PM · edited Sat, 11 January 2025 at 4:44 AM

I'm been playing around with a a multi-frame set, importing some other scenes and deleting the stuff I don't want.

All is fine except that I have a multitude of shadow cams that are not associated with any lights. How to I delete them?

If I select them in the hierarchy editor then the delete object option is grayed out and the delete button does nothing.

I can create another light and parent these shadow cams to that light but, on deletion of the light and selecting to also delete dependents, it only deletes its own shadow cam and drops the others back out orphaned into the list.

Can't see that they are doing anything other than making my list of cameras long.

Any help appreciated on how to get rid of them.

Thanks!

Parent the shadow cams to a figure, then delete the figure. You can use any figure, but "MinFig" from my free stuff is very handy for this sort of thing because of its small file size, quick loading and deleting, and unobtrusiveness.

The only other way to get rid of them is to save a pz3, then edit them out by hand in a cr2 editor or text editor.

Done the trick nicely thanks! Didn't think to try parenting them to a figure - doh!

Cheers again..!

Bring me to the question?
Where did they come from??????
Why did they not delete with their own light?????

I was loading a number of individual scenes into one overall scene as a number of frames. Transferring/copying the poses and co-ords of one object to another so that I can replicate each individual scene in one file as a number of frames instead.

Probably loading each file caused duplicate lights etc which did delete when I removed the objects I didn't want but left the shadow cams behind I assume...
