Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 26 6:57 am)
I'm a hopeless addict. Have it on Steam as well as PS3. Haven't rendered a single thing since 11/11/11. But I have bought a ton of Poser content in various sales. Oddly, a lot of my recent purchases seem to involve medieval looking buildings and fantasy outfits. Hmmm.
I'm currently playing a stealth character. Nothing like the one-shot archer kill with poison. Does lack the visceral appeal of a bash n smash approach, though.

Sorry, was too busy trying to get my lightsaber in ST:TOR 3 day beta test....
(I did!)
Now its back to saving citizens and foiling the bad guys in Champions Online.

My daughter and I are both addicted.
I'm a level 34 high elf mage. I don't need armor because I create a storm atronach to keep enemies busy, away from me. I don't need weapons because I magically shoot fire bolts all day or roll a storm through the room killing 3 falmer at a time. I don't need no stinkin stamina because I can run all day while casting spells to replenish it without stopping.
I love how many ways there are to place this game.
Did I mention that I'm both Arch Mage at the College of Winterhold as well as head of the Thieves Guild?
Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)
Ive installed it and watched the intro part and dribbled lol but i need a day off so i can disappear from the world and play it :-)

Gonna be interesting to see where Bethsoft takes the franchise now; Oblivion was the last game that had a pre-drafted script; Skyrim is beyond that time frame. Looks like they have a nice Machiavelli group with the Thalmor....
I just wish they could have paid a little more attention to the PC port of the game; that console UI isn't the most elegant thing I've ever seen. And in very late 2011, hobbling the graphics processing to DX-9c is getting real old. It looks fantastic for what it is, but they could have done so much more with DX-11's lighting model and shader model 5.
Of course the nice thing is Skyrim is actually playing more like Daggerfall than Oblivion, which is a great relief. Now if we can only get it through their heads that there is only so much you can pare away from a CRPG before it becomes a sandbox adventure.....
Hi
I'm playing it as soon as I get off the forums. I just started a new character, I got to level 11 and decided I wanted to go a different way.
I always end up doing this.
Over the weekend I was playing SWTOR beta too.
I still have an Age of Conan account, AoC is my favorite MMO of modern times.
I go back to Ultima Online.
If you have never played AoC give it a try, it's free to play now, so you can do it for nothing. You won't believe the graphics for an MMO it has collision detection, and the plants move when you brush by them.
Now that I'm used to it I love the UI in Skyrim, the fact that only the compass shows on the screen is great, I always try to keep my UI as minimal as possible.
And it looks great, but I agree that they should have gone to DX11, I would also like to make the compass move transparent without having the cursor do the same. I'd like to have the compass barely noticable but when I do that I can't see the cursor.
I've been experimenting with bringing scenes from Skyrim into Poser.
I set my screen size in the game at 1600 by 1000 in the game, and use Windows mode. I found a great view, removed the UI and then just left the camera stationary.
Then I used FRAPS to record the view.
I got this great 30 second avi file with blowing grass, trees, and moving clouds.
Then I imported it into Poser in a same size window.
It looks really great, you can import your Poser figures and props and have a living environment that doesn't have that static imported image look.
It's amazing how much of a difference it make to the scene.

If you shoot a mime, do you need a silencer?
Just started playing it a few days ago.
Best part so far: being chased by a bear, accidentally run into a camp full of bandits who start trying to attack me...and a dragon shows up.
Shortly thereafter I emerge from cover, deliver the death blow to the dragon, start looting corpses (including the bear), and the sole remaining bandit doesn't want to fight anymore and basically goes "So...if you just go away we won't have to hurt you". It was so funny I let her live.

I haven't finished it yet (alt-itus) but the feelling I've been getting from the game is it revealing the history of the series as well as setting up the next game (thalmor). All of the northern provences have had a game for them, so it looks like the rest of the games of the series will be down south (other two elf groups, khajhit, and aragonians). There could be something like a return of the dwarves or the falmar being restored as a civilized race (former state), but I don't see those things happening soon if ever.

I haven't bought it yet. I bought the collector's edition for Fallout New Vegas and it is very glitchy, so I didn't want to run into glitch city with the first run of Skyrim game discs. But waiting until Janurary or February to buy this game is driving me a bit nuts. I really would like to get started on it. So anyone having any glitch problems with their PS3 version???? As for Oblivion, that was so much fun!!! I dungeon-dived for about six months without ever touching the main quest. I love free world questing; I love exploring; and I love loads of loot to find and NO Level caps! (And unlike Vault Boy, your Oblivion character can jump!)

PS3 glitches?
At least one of the dungeons sometimes requires you to leave and return before boulder will move to reveal a hidden doorway (I can't remember which dungeon, however). And at least a couple of the Bard College quests leave musical instruments in your inventory as quest items that cannot be removed and yet still have a weight -- which is annoying if you're a heavy looter.
I've also come home to my house and all the furniture had vanished, leaving pots and pans and food all over the floor. When I would leave and reload, the furniture would come back, but the stuff was still strewn everywhere.
Sometimes the bookshelves in the Whiterun house stop activating. My current character's weapon rack does not work.
And if you have autosave turned on, the occasional crash happens.
So far, I'd say the PS3 version is about as glitchy as Oblivion was. But there are major improvements the UI and to gameplay. Lock picking is a lot more fun. Smithing is cool. Unless they get glitchy, bookshelves and weapon racks are actually easily usable. And you don't have to weigh yourself down with repair hammers.

My Elyse character is a nord, level 37. She weilds a war axe in her right hand, and spell of the minute in the left. Arch-Mage at the College and expert (100) Smith and Enchanting. She has a loyal companion (Stenvar), whom she finds amusing.
I love the house in Whiterun, the non-linear approach to the quests, and the openess of the world to travel through and explore. The graphics are just beautiful.
Only one thing I would wish for.......a co-op mode so my roleplay partner could play with me.
YES! I love it. I've got three characters. Farthest along with a level 22 High Elf Mage (ArchMage of Winterhold) with some warrior aspects. Single melee, shield, bow, light armor. I am accompanied by Lydia.
She's died a few times- made me sad- so I've reloaded saves a few times.Particularly when running into trolls in the earlier levels. Now at level 22 she has steel plate armor-and a two handed sword with flame enchantment-so she can kill a single troll on her own now. I'll upgrade her when I find better armor!
Last night I finally made my way to Solitude- wandered into a meeting between General Tulious and staff-and was given a quest to clear a fort of bandit marauders. Poor Lydia caught a fatal arrow-so I started it over-with her waiting. I have a 65 sneak skill- so I was able to get close and take them out one or two at a time. Flame Cloak really helped here-Not sure if the Arch Mage wants to join the army though.
Absolutely ZERO crashes! Xbox version. One odd thing was a thief stopping nearby-drawing his blade to attack-then changing his mind and running. Smart thief!
I got Skyrim on Steam the moment it was available. But repetitive strain injuries don't permit me to play marathon sessions with a mouse, so I mostly played on the PS3. I finally got an Xbox controller to use on the PC, and cranked up a couple of the visual settings slightly.
Wow.
PS3 is nice, but it does suffer from some excessive texture filtering at times. But on the PC, it's very sweet indeed.

Anyone playing it? I've got a dual-wielding nord who dabbles in destruction and restoration magic. Mostly I just stabbity things to death cause that's how nords roll.
Monsters being pests? Kill them.
Guards being pests? Kill them.
Bandits being pests? Kill them.
Dragons annoying you again? Kill them.
It's a surprise my character isn't wanted at all. I guess she's a ninja nord.
My only disappointment is there is no bloody mess trait borrowed from fallout 3.
