Here's my attempt at a custom morphed Antonia Head.  I just added 1/8 of a head size.  My texture of course using SSS.

Not clear here, to me.

Are you saying to Open a Prop Clothing or Import a Clothing Object?

I have seen a video that said to Import the clothing Object.

Many Thanks

Here's what I do:

1.  Import the OBJ file of the standard conforming item - grouped and ready to use.

2.  Save the OBJ just imported as a Prop.

3.  Proceed with the weight map instructions......

There are probably other ways to make it work - you mileage may vary.

If I use crossdresser and convert clothing to antonia will they work on the WM version?

No, you'll need to convert the clothing to weight mapped in Poser2012.  There's currently no capability in Crossdresser to add weight mapping to clothing.

Zev0 ( ) posted Sun, 18 December 2011 at 11:21 AM

How complicated is it to do this? What are the steps?

Quote - How complicated is it to do this? What are the steps?

It's actually very easy to do.  I was surprised by the simplicity.

From Appendix 5 of the Antonia~WM documention:

Antonia Polygon – Standard and Antonia Polygon – WM share geometry with Antonia 1.2. Conforming clothing for those characters can be converted without geometry changes using this simple process:

  • Load the geometry of the clothing item as a prop.
  • Open the Set-up Room.
  • From the library change the figure to Antonia Polygon – WM, (or use the development version). To the question whether you want to re-group answer no because the groups are the same.
  • You now have a weight-mapped conforming item. Re-name it and test it (without conforming) in the pose room. If it behaves the way you expect it to, save it to your figures library.
  • Exit and re-start Poser.
  • Test the piece with it conformed to an Antonia Figure.
  • If you want the piece for further use, open the Set-up Room and trim the rig down to the bones you need.
  • You can transfer any morphs from the existing clothing in a separate application like MorphManager.

You're welcome.  Just a bit of advice.....

Once you save the weight mapped CR2, you will probably want to go into it with an editor (I use Poser File Editor) and delete some of the unused bones and materials that get transferred with the Antonia~WM skeleton, as well as renaming the figure.

If you need instruction how to do that, don't hesitate to ask.

 Answers to A and Robyn

A_: I knew you had to have Boticelli in mind! I NEVER expect to see V4 in a Boticelli painting.

Robyn

Quote - HAHA! She probably looks better than I do too. And I've said before-she looks like a human- as is-whereas V4 does NOT. Ever see someone with eyes that big in the real world? Robyn- I'll bet your soul looks better than your avatar. :-) Human is good! Let me state my opinion. Real people-with rare exceptions- do not look like the images posted most prevalently and rated best in the gallery. I am taking that as an unscientific survey- of what the population prefers. But look at the renders that get dozens of comments and stars- invariably, they are cute faces with cutes poses- this is my basis for saying that making "pretty" faces and figures for Antonia- will increase her use by the community. Look at the number of ratings Argus gets- he uses pretty characters in cute clothes-with good lighting.

Antonia has it to be both realistic for those who want realistic-and unrealistically cute for the average poser person.

Quote -  Now that we are seeing Antonia with morphs that make her more traditionally "cute" or "pretty" I think we will see a broader interest. Most want to render people who look better than themselves (I do!). Looking good folks!

Sweetie, Antonia in her default state looked better than I do. 😄 Seriously. I'd be delighted to look that good.

And then, there's my avatar - that's just my soul, there. Good job it isn't too reprehensible...

Not directly... you still have to follow Glitterati's instructions after you've done the conversion. I have it from Andy (at EI) that XDresser doesn't support weightmapping but it is definitely in the plans. 😄

You're absolutely right, Eric. There are Poser users who - unfortunately - want a V4 replacement that looks like their vision of a dream girl straight "out-of-the-box" and can't see that Antonia has the capacity to be that for them with a bit of dial-spinning.  But with Antonia and other brilliant new figures that are coming out, we've got something we didn't have before: quality figures that render brilliantly natively in our software of choice. Our software of choice implies a bit of work, a bit of creativity. Poser has given us - sorry, I know I keep saying this, but it is IMPORTANT! - the ability to be creative as we want... it preserves that right to be creative. This holds true for older versions of Poser, but even more so for the newest ones. What incredible software there! We can do what we want... create what we want... and help is everywhere.

It's a great time for Poser! And we're just getting started.

People gravitate towards norms.  Norms change on a dime.  There's a lot of characteristics that people find beautiful today that were considered quite ugly last century.  Someone described as "beautiful and exotic" today would probably have been described as "sallow and ugly," to go by stories I've read and descriptions of actual people back then.

Right now, the norm in the content community is extremely influenced by anime, at least in part because V4 is pretty clearly derivative of A3 (similar proportions, similar lack of definition, etc.).  Even in V3's time there were more classical bodies and adult faces in works than now.  It's almost impossible to make V4 have a defined face, or do anything about her extremely long limbs and oversized feet (both being definitive traits of anime characters, as I've read and seen demonstrated in some random drawing instruction books).  Cute dominates now partly because V4 dominates and V4 isn't very good at anything but cute.

When people cite their influences I've consistently seen people list Vallejo, Brom, Frazetta, the Pre-Raphaelites, and Renaissance artists.  Mostly very academic work or traditional fantasy illustration, with a lot more emphasis on striking than cute.  But all of the few I've seen cite anime artists are top merchants.  I remember when there used to be a lot more classically styled work in the galleries, but that was back when there was a lot smaller market and people were grateful for just about any content they could get, regardless of how much work it took to use it.  People did so much on their own that any shortcut was appreciated.  That also meant, though, that people made work that was a bit more to their own vision.

Now we're seeing a shift in the community again.  The concerns and issues surrounding V5 have illuminated the problem of depending on any one company to define what is and isn't possible in terms of content.  This project has demonstrated the ability of content creators to do excellent work guided by their own vision more than by one store's standard style.  Other projects seem to be underweigh.  New artists are coming to the forefront.  It will be interesting to see how the change in content and even in culture change norms.  I have no clue what will happen, but you can usually count on things not staying the same.

Not a great one renders, but having fun.

No, actually, Matmatic and I are joined at the hip. If I could do 1/10000000000 in proper Poser wxPython as what I feel comfortable doing in Matmatic, I'd be one really happy chook!

Thank you, BluEcho! I simply can't believe just how versatile this figure is. Of course, I SO should be learning how to do the weight-map-conforming-cloth thing, but I'll have to admit: I'm just so obsessed with dynamic cloth. I really think it would be amazing to get a bunch of newbie clothing developers together to study and discuss specifically designing dynamic cloth mesh for Poser's cloth room, taking into account the limitations inherent in that room but also capitalising on the features. I know that dynamic cloth mesh in general has been discussed in this forum elsewhere, but i can't remember whether mesh design was ever really brought up.
